Car Reviews: 2007 Ford Escape

An All Around Great SUV

John Galt
It takes only a simple look around to realize that SUVs are everywhere. This fairly recent trend in the automotive industry has been a signal to many buyers. Those who need more space than a sedan, or who are looking for something that offers fun and utility have found themselves turning to the SUV as a way to get more fun and use out of their daily driving. Indeed, SUVs really do broaden up the range of what a person can do with his or her. Of course, SUVs also have their drawbacks as well. Thus, the challenge in finding an SUV comes with finding a vehicle which has enough positives to outweigh the negatives. While this search may sometimes seem difficult, one clear winner in this fight is the 2004 Ford Escape.

Even looking at the exterior of the Escape is enough to let one know that the vehicle is something special. The Escape manages to avoid the "bloated" look that so many SUVs embody, and although the car may not exactly look like a luxury vehicle, it is noticeable without managing to draw too much attention to itself. The distinctive grill, roof racks, and body lines on the side and back of the vehicle are enough to set the vehicle apart, and the Escape looks like far more than the traditional SUV. Just a glance at the Escape is enough to bring out memories of long trips, runs down snowy roads, or just fun trips. All around, the Escape looks great, and it is definitely one of the best vehicles appearance wide in its class.

The interior of the Escape is equally as nice. The Escape offers plenty of room while managing not to overwhelm drivers or passengers with an excess of space. Whether the interior is black or tan, the interior accents really stand out, and drivers will be very happy with their choice of vehicle. The sound system is great, and the view of the road offered by the Escape is truly top notch. Unlike some SUVS, which sit up so high that drivers have no view of the road, the Escape avoids this by sitting a tad bit lower, and adjusting the frame angle slightly. Drivers and passengers will have no problem seeing any area around them. The Escape is very comfortable inside, and there is plenty of room for passengers and luggage alike. Driving just feels natural in the Escape, which is something that many SUVs simply cannot give their passengers.

However, as good as the Escape looks and feels inside, perhaps one of the most important things to consider is how the vehicle actually drives. Rest assured that potential buyers will find no problems here. The Escape, with it's 3.0 liter engine offers plenty of go if the driver should demand it, but is also balanced enough to be driven without difficulty. The Escape handles nicely around corners, and although one cannot exactly forget that they are driving an SUV, the overall handling of the car really is top notch. There is little interior noise to be heard, and even highway cruising is done at low volume levels. The four wheel drive propels the vehicle through snow (and other conditions) expertly, and at no point should the driver ever feel endangered while piloting the vehicle. Even though it may not get the best gas mileage around, the Escape still gets more miles to the gallon than many close competitors, and those going from a car to an SUV don't have to worry about shocking their wallets to keep gas in the vehicle.

Overall, the Escape is a truly excellent vehicle. The vehicle looks great, both inside and out, drives exceptionally, and offers SUV comfort and utility at a fairly low price. For those who may be desiring the utility of an SUV without high fuel costs or exceptional size, the 2002 Ford Escape is the perfect choice, and it is a choice that will likely bring smiles to consumers faces for many years to come. The Escape is truly one of the best bargains on the market when it comes to SUVs, and should be the first choice for those who may be considering their first SUVs.
