Caramel Macchiato Weight Loss Experiment

Lose Weight with Starbucks

Lehticia Leo
Losing weight has always been a popular topic amongst women. Personally, I am obsessed with losing weight. So much that I find a way to slip it into practically any conversation that I can. Whether I'm talking to my boyfriend, my friend, cousin, mother, grandmother, barista, doctor, etc; I find a way to fit it into the conversation. Yet, I never seemed to lose weight in a healthy manner. But, for the last few months I've been experimenting with a little thing called coffee (it's my fuel for life, and I drink tons of it) and found that making a few adjustments to your daily coffee can help you shed the pounds.

Wide Load Coming Through!

A Caramel Macchiato (my favorite drink!) with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sounds heavenly doesn't it? It's just what you need to brighten up your day at the office. If you order your coffee like this everyday, you're going to be fat forever! I'm not being a biatch; I'm just telling you the truth. Do you want to know how many calories are in the above mentioned drink? OK, here goes... 425 calories and 180 calories from fat for a venti Caramel Macchiato with all the dressings. Ouch. I often order up to three Caramel Macchiatos throughout the day. This puts me at 1,275 calories in a day, just for stinkin' coffee.

Skinny up Your Drink

Since my goal is to lose weight by de-frilling my Starbucks coffees, I'm going to show you just how I've made my fat-ass Macchiato into a skinny girl's delight. First and foremost, we need to get rid of the whipped cream and caramel syrup, immediately. Just by eliminating these two frilly and fattening extras, I've eliminated 85 calories; which so far brings me to a total of 340 calories per coffee. But, I'm still not done minimizing my drink. Next, we'll cut down the mega 20-oz cups which often lead to multiple restroom trips and swap it for a more conservative 12-oz cup; this brings me down to 200 calories per cup total. But, I'm still not done. Finally, I'll swap whole milk for non-fat milk, a much leaner alternative. My final calorie count for my Caramel Macchiato is 140 calories and 10 calories from fat. I've eliminated 285 calories and 170 calories from fat just by making a few waist-friendly adjustments to my drink. My Caramel Macchiato will still be yummy and I'm on the road to shedding some pounds without much effort at all.
