I, myself, have longed for the day where I can eat corn and rice and not worry about my carbohydrate intake. I'm Filipino so some of you should know and undertand the relationship between Filipinos and rice. There's just really something there. Rice has always been part of any Filipino's breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And I, myself, honestly never feel like I've eaten enough unless I have rice with my meal. So you can't imagine my joy when I came across this weight loss article online. I immediately read through it and here's the information I found that's very interesting.
Potatoes, corn, rice, and beans contain resistant starch which can have a great effect on weight loss and your overall health. It increases your body's ability to burn fat and shuts down your hunger hormones. Resistant starch cannot be digested so it never enters your bloodstream. It can go all the way through your small intestine without getting digested. This is true for other types of fiber but what makes resistant starch more different and special is the effect it has on weight loss. Not only that, it also has an effect on our overall health. Resistant starch improves blood sugar control, lowers cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and boosts immunity. Isn't it just great news? Not only is it helping you lose weight and slim down, but it also has a positive effect on your health. How can you really go wrong?
Here's a list of six best fat-burning foods I found on www.msnbc.com with the amount of resistant starch in them (grams) for every 1/2 cup.
(I only listed the ones that I eat. You can find more of these on www.msnbc.com)
Beans: 8 grams per 1/2 cup
Potatoes: 4 grams per 1/2 cup
Brown Rice: 3 grams per 1/2 cup
Corn: 2 grams per 1/2 cup
If you want more information regarding the topic, go to www.nutritionandmetabolism.com or www.healthyeatingclub.com. They have tons of information about resistant starch and how it can help with weight loss. You can also find the article I came across at www.msnbc.com.
