Twinsets and cardigans were once viewed as the ultimate working girl wardrobe piece, but over time it's become an item that has been easily incorporated into everyday wear. Due to trends and personal styles traditional twinsets have been re-created and make strong trendsetting statements. Retailers are carrying several versions of cardigans and due to its layering appeal it is a popular choice among many. Layering cardigans with other clothing items make it one of the best transitional clothing pieces for every season. Here are some styles available on the market for cardigans.

Traditional Twinset

The cardigan and cami combination has been working attire for quite some time but this fashion item can be paired with more than black slacks. Wearing your office twinset with a pair or stylish capri's and bold glass accessories such as necklaces and bangles will enhance your cardigan from boring to brow-raising.

Boy Friend

This cardigan comes in all sleeve lengths and usually has a straighter fit than the traditional sweater-like cardigan. Try a single button, three quarter sleeve cardigan over a fitted graphic tee if your being creative but beware of the locations of patch pockets or pockets with closures. Depending on where the cardigan falls the pockets may accentuate your hips and waistline.

Wrap

Although this cardigan is trendy it dresses up any ordinary outfit with pizazz. It can be worn tied in the front or with one side of the cardigan thrown diagonally over the other shoulder. The addition of bold earrings, over size hand bag and skinny jeans will help you set the streets ablaze.

Sleeveless

This stylish piece is great for all seasons especially if the fabric is cotton. Being similar to a vest in style it can be worn over a knit short sleeve shirt, turtle neck, scoop neck or any style that you prefer. This season's sleeveless cardigan is flowing and long and pairs well with dress slacks or jeans.

Cascade

The sides of this cardigan "cascade" and are shorter than the wrap but longer than a traditional cardigan. This fashionable cardigan drapes well and can be found with a banded waist so it isn't overly loose. Wear a bold color cardigan over a printed tank top to create a fun but polished outfit.
