Cardinal Baseball Records Often Forgotten

Being a St. Louis native, I have always marveled at some of the baseball records that Cardinal players have set. We all like to look at records like home runs, RBIs, wins, strikeouts and batting averages. Yet there are other records, too. This article looks at a few of those records. Did you know?

Hitting Records
Most pitch hit grand slams (3) Ron Nothey.
The longest Cardinal hitting streak is 33 games by Rogers Hornsby in 1922..
Most hits in a season of 250 by Hornsby 1922..
The most triples in a season is 33 sit in 1893, by Perry Werden.
The most doubles was 64 by Joe Medwick in 1936.
The most hit by a pitch was 31 by Steve Evans in 1910.
Strikeouts in a season: Jim Edmonds 167 in 2000
Hit into the most double plays in a career; Stan Musial 243 (Albert Pujols currently has 203.
Most Home Runs in a game; 4 Mark Whitten 1993

Pitching
Most wins in a season; 30 Dizzy Dean 1934
Most Losses in a season ; 27 Paul Derringer 1933
Most Strike outs in a season; 268 Bob Gibson 1968
Most Saves in a season; 47 Jason Isringhausen 2004 & Lee Smith 1991.
Most Shutouts in a season; 13 Bob Gibson 1968
Most walks in a season; 232 Jack Stivetts 1891

    Do you get to go to any games? I wanna go to St. Louis so bad this year (for the Braves of course:)
    but I think I'm fresh out of travel buddies. If I get to do a trip this year it may be solo.

    I remember Bob Gibson while Curt Gowdy was the NBC commentator. Love the Cardinals. These are some iconic numbers. Very impressive.
