Cardin's Drive-In in Knoxville Tennessee: Review - If you just happen to be passing through East Tennessee and just happen to be on Asheville Highway, there is a restaurant that you do not want to miss. Even if it is 50 miles out of the way, you still do not want to miss it. This is no ordinary restaurant, this is a drive in. You pull into the parking lot, if you can find any room, and you automatically feel like you have gone back in time. The waitresses come to your car, take your order, and bring it to you. I am not talking about yelling into a machine, you talk with real live people every step of the way.

This drive in was started many years ago by the Cardin's, and they still own and operate it today. However, now they have their third generation involved in the business. These people are some of the friendliest people you ever want to meet. If all people were like them, the world would be a happier and more likeable place.

So now that you have heard about the people, what about the food. Oh my, are you in for a mouthwatering all time delicious absolutely lip smacking good time. If you like old fashioned hamburgers, made from real beef, then you will find them right here at this little drive in. If you want a milkshake that is hand made with all real ingredients, you will find them right here at this little drive in. And one thing you may not even think about that they offer is actually an oyster basket. Now you may think "Yuk, an oyster basket at a drive in." Ah, but you will be very pleasantly surprised if you try them at this drive in. They also have a banana split that will curl your tongue it is so good. Those are just a few of the items you can find on their larger than life menu. They also offer hot dogs, French fries, biscuits and gravy (and oh my, the biscuits and gravy are yummy), ham biscuits, and so much more that I must stop here lest I make this review ten pages long. All of this comes at an extremely reasonable price range.

Let me give you a little heads up about trying to go during regular breakfast, lunch, and supper hours. Don't even try. If you do, you will probably have to park in the street. They fill up so fast during the regular dining times that people have been known to wait an hour just to get their food. That does not mean they are slow, that means they are very good. As far as the waiting there has never been any complaints yet. They all say it is very well worth it. They have some customers who still return today who were there the first day they opened. Now that says a lot for a restaurant.

Let me tell you this if you go through East Tennessee on Interstate-40 going East or West bound, and you do not stop by this Cardin's Drive-In then you do not like good food or you are just plain crazy.
