Cardiologist Dr. Alon Steinberg Testifies at Jackson Death Trial

Defense Tries and Fails to Rip Holes in Steinberg's Testimony

Ms. Marie
Michael Jackson's death trial continues, we have heard testimonies from witnesses but none as compelling as that of Dr. Alon Steinberg. Cardiologist Dr. Steinberg testified that Conrad Murray violated the standard of care for Michael Jackson, and was grossly negligent in using Propofol to help Jackson sleep.

Watching Dr. Steinberg on the stand and listening to his clear, concise and very detailed explanations was amazing. The cardiologist did not over-use medical terms, he spoke very calmly and gave a testimony that the average person could understand. His personality humanized his testimony, he seemed to speak to the jury not at them as he explained complex details. Dr. Steinberg used hand gestures to offer a visual demonstration to key points he was making, which were very helpful.

As the camera's panned to the Defense team, you saw what appeared to be a very irritated Conrad Murray. Several times Murray scratched his head, he shifted in his seat and held a hand over his mouth, which made him seem a bit frustrated. Defense attorney Michael Flannagan seemed annoyed as he continuously attempted to poke holes in Dr. Steinberg's findings and conclusions. Flannagan kept trying to slip in the back door so to speak, looking for flaws in the expert witnesses testimony. Every question Flannagan asked was answered without hesitation and Dr. Steinberg backed up his conclusions and testimony by referencing the transcript of Murray's police interview with accuracy.

Watching the defense attorney Flannagan's facial expressions and body language made him seem quite frustrated. Flannagan was questioning a witness who defended himself extremely well, and with undeniable confidence.

The questions and responses became intense as Flannagan struggled to find imperfections, Dr. Steinberg at one point sat up with a hand on the transcript ready and waiting for the next question that Flannagan would hurl at him. Dr. Alon Steinberg was prepared and maintained his composure very well, although attorney Flannagan seemed like he was on the verge of arguing with the witness rather than questioning him.

Conrad Murray Abandoned His Patient and Left Unlocked Medication Within Jackson's Reach

Based on the evidence presented and the transcript of Conrad Murray's police interview it's impossible to deny that these are not facts. The question then becomes was Murray negligent and did he violate the standard of care. Expert witness and cardiologist Dr. Alon Steinberg clarified this, in my opinion.

Two things had compelling impact, Dr. Steinberg gave two explanations about Michael Jackson giving himself the deadly dose of profofol and how it shows negligence confirmed by Murray's own words. It all makes perfect sense. Point one, as a licensed medical professional Conrad Murray abandoned his patient when he supposedly went to the bathroom leaving Michael unmonitored; Dr. Steinberg's comparison to leaving a baby on a counter-top really brought that point home.

The next point Dr. Steinberg made was how Conrad Murray neglected to lock up medications, and again for the average person it makes perfect sense. Murray left his patient who he allegedly was trying to wean off of Profofol alone in a room with several medications within his reach. Not to mention, when Murray returned to find Michael Jackson not breathing he did NOT call 911 right away.

Conrad Murray, in my opinion, is a disgrace regardless of how nice or charismatic he appears to be at times. His statements in the police transcript are as self serving as his actions. His defense is based on blaming a man who died while in his care, a man who is not here to defend himself, in hopes of justifying his reckless and inhumane actions. This person, Murray, seems to have no conscience when it comes to covering his own tracks.

A final thought, if Conrad Murray truly cared for Michael Jackson, his children and Mrs. Jackson so much, why would he put them through this grueling, heart-wrenching trial; consider the evidence and facts thus far. Michael Jackson's children, Paris, Prince and Blanket will grow up and have access to this trial. Those innocent children have lost a father they loved dearly, sadly some day they will relive the death of their daddy all over again when faced with the details of this trial. Those kids will eventually see Michael Jackson's autopsy photo and hear the phone call that Conrad Murray secretly tape recorded, and unfortunately they will mourn again.
