Care for Winter Skin: Review of Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for Dry, Sensitive Skin

Sophia Moon
For those who live in cold, dry, winter climates, parched skin is common. Even though I run a humidifier in my home in the winter, I experience very dry skin on my face. Skin becomes so dry in the winter not only because of low humidity but also because of regular exposure to winter wind. Winter cold causes blood vessels to constrict; decreased blood flow to skin cells causes those cells to shrink and become dry (Babu, 2009). My face becomes tight and itchy. So not only do I make sure I'm staying hydrated internally, I also apply Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for Sensitive Skin to my face in the morning and at night.

Moisturizer can help retain and restore moisture that is lost. Cetaphil moisturizing cream smoothes away dry lines and erases dry skin flakiness. Replacing parched winter skin is skin that looks hydrated and smooth. At night, I use a gentle cleanser to remove makeup. Most winter mornings, I usually need to rinse my face with only water, which keeps a great deal of moisture intact.

During the winter months, this moisturizing cream lays a good base for applying foundation, concealer, and other makeup. With my freshly hydrated face, I don't have to worry about my makeup settling and caking into dry skin areas or settling in to expose any little lines. I have sensitive skin and this fragrance-free formula does not irritate my skin. During summer months, the cream is too heavy to use on my face in the morning under makeup. Any time of the year, this moisturizer can be used as needed on hands, elbows, knees, feet, or anywhere on the body that needs an intense moisture boost. I would recommend that anyone with eczema try it on dry patches.

I can't seem to get enough moisture in the skin on my face during the cold Wisconsin winter months. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for Sensitive Skin has been beneficial in re-hydrating my moisture depleted face so that even during the most brutal of winter weather conditions, my face looks radiant.
