Career Opportunities with the United Services Organization or USO

Anyone who has been in the Military knows about the USO . They are not a government agency, but a private, nonprofit organization that operates in 135 countries around the world in order to bring a bit of home to military personnel. Right now, they are hiring in the U.S. and around the world. Most of the positions are overseas, but there is a good amount available at their offices in Arlington and Norfolk, Virginia and one in California.

The career opportunities in Arlington, Virginia are for a `HR Assistant with a Bachelors degree in related field and 1 to 3 years experience of HR support with proficiency in MS Office applications, strong written and oral communications skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, be pro-active taking on new projects, to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality. They are also looking for a Director of HR Operations and Corporate Alliances Coordinator.

In California, the career opportunity is for a Regional Director of Major and Planned Gifts which requires a four-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field plus four years of work experience in a non-profit development and/or business management experience.

In Norfolk, the career opportunity is for a Operations Coordinator with a Bachelor's Degree, 2 years experience in accounting and finance, proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong writing and communication skills, accurate typing, proofreading and editing skills, customer service skills and professional phone manner and the ability to be pro-active and meet deadlines.

The overseas jobs are in Japan -Administrative Assistant, Programs Coordinator and Human Resources Coordinator Kuwait-Regional Vice President, and Duty Managers and Korea- Programs Coordinator, Duty Manager and Administrative Assistant

For the Administrative Assistant position you need a Bachelor's degree in a business related field or a significant administrative experience. 1 year of office management or administrative experience, proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel, Japanese Word and Power Point in the language of the country, bi lingual is not necessary, but it is a big plus, the ability to communicate with various types of Government officials, private organizations, business and military leaders, and supervisors. The foreign appointments are not easy to get, they do have a lot of special requirements. They prefer people who are in the country, but at the same time you have to be a US Citizen. Also, they do not pay for travel expenses. Buy they still might be worth while looking into, if you are in the adventurous type.
