The annual North American International Auto Show, now revving up in Detroit is the must watch event for car lovers and car enthusiasts in America every year. The public event runs until January 24th this year. As car lovers brace themselves to experience the next generation of transportation on display at this years' show, Americans are still trying to figure out what is next for the auto industry.

Although the auto industry has recovered a bit, this year's show comes against the backdrop of the thousands of jobs lost in Detroit due to contractions in the auto industry manufacturing. What we do know is that despite the jobs lost in the automobile manufacturing sector, there are still plenty of opportunities for car lovers and car enthusiasts to have good careers working around these machines they love.

Career for Car Lover #1 - Automotive Specialty Technicians

Car lovers know that the skill level required to successful work on today's cars goes well beyond nuts, bolts and spark plugs. With cars getting more complex, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is predicting high demand for Automotive Specialty Technicians who work on specific parts of autos such as brakes or suspensions. This kind of specialized training in an automotive training program can go a long way to help a car lover make a living working on cars.

Career for Car Lover #2 - Automobile Designers

Car Design News, the magazine of choice for this type of car lover, lists training programs for car designers in America, Europe and Asia. The career section of the site offers career advice for car designers starting out in the profession covering everything from interviews to a glossary of terms. Car lovers interested in a career in car design can participate in forums asking and answering questions. Some of the types of design jobs available include Car Interior Designers and even Clay Modelers.

Career for Car Lover # 3 - Auto Journalist

For car lovers who love to write, there are career opportunities in media related opportunities. Auto Journalists write for magazines, blogs and newspapers. There is actually a LinkedIn group for Auto Journalists where editors, writers, road testers and photographers get together to network professionally.
