Careers in the Protective Services Field

Careers in protective services are some of the most important careers. They are the jobs that keep us safe, whether it be as individuals, or as a whole. Everyone wants to feel like they are safe and that there are people out there watching out for them, so careers in the protective services field are always in demand. There are many different options when it comes to the protective services field, so if this is a field you are considering, but aren't sure which specific area you would like best, here are some different jobs within the protective services field.

Protective services careers: police officer
Police officers is probably the career that most people think of when they hear protective services. Police officers do a huge variety of things, they keep the roads safe from drunk and speeding drivers, they keep the streets safe by arresting drug dealers and any other people doing illegal activities, and many other different things. Their job is to make you feel safe, and police officers are always in need, so if you want job security, this is a great choice.

Protective services careers: firefighter
Firefighting is another careers widely associated with the protective services field. Firefighters are there when there is an accident on the road, and they put out fires, obviously. Firefighting is a very tough job, and it can be hard on your body, so be sure that you're ready for the training and work that this job requires before getting into it.

Protective services careers: forensic scientist
Forensic scientists are the people who provide the evidence in cases. Most people have heard of or seen some television shows that are centered around forensic scientists, and although these are fictional story lines, their job is basically the same. They test for DNA, fingerprints, bite marks, anything that could link a suspect to the crime. Forensic scientists are extremely valuable to the community because they help put criminals behind bars.

Protective services careers: correctional officer
Correctional officers are the ones who keep order in the prisons. They keep tracks of the inmates, they check their cells, and make sure that everything is going well and smoothly. This is another tough job, you constantly have to deal with criminals, so there will definitely be some times you'll be put in some scary situations. Correctional officers are greatly needed, not a lot of people are willing to do this job because it requires a tough skin.

Protective services careers: security guard
Security guards can get jobs anywhere they would like. Malls, companies, apartment buildings, they all someone making sure that there is no one will cause the people occupying those places any harm. The hours for this job are also very flexible, so you can choose when you work at most places, which is a great perk for those who can only work certain times of the day.
