Caring for Carbon Fiber Accessories
Carbon Fiber is a Composite Material Which is Very Strong, Light, Flexible and Very Expensive
Carbon fiber is particularly popular with race car drivers and other machine-lovers. This is because of its various abilities one of which is its ability to withstand heat. Car hoods made from carbon fiber keep the engine cooler thus improving its efficiency. They are also lighter thus keeping the weight off the front tires. This increases a car's balancing and steering capability. Carbon fiber hoods are a lot stronger than regular car hoods and this helps them sustain the constant opening and closing.
Caring for carbon fiber accessories is basically generally caring for carbon fiber. It is tricky to notice whether carbon fiber has been damaged. This is because it doesn't tear nor scratch but it breaks. This is very dangerous as there would be no warning signs if there's damage unlike other metals, which would show signs of wear. The best thing to do is to listen to any abnormal sounds coming from your carbon fiber accessories. This may be the first signs of anything wrong. Also if you feel that your accessory is not functioning the way it should, immediately stop using it and take it to a nearby mechanic for repairs.
Carbon fiber accessories are also prone to damage from Ultra Violet light and oxidation. To prevent this, the carbon fiber needs to be constantly waxed. A very common and reputable wax brand is the Klasse AIO. This wax offers an all-in-one protection for your carbon. It removes oxidation while preventing it, removes old wax and swirls meanwhile leaving it with a noticeable glow and shine. Unlike other cheap brands Klasse will not penetrate the carbon and nor will it change the paint. Additionally Klasse created a sealant called High Gloss Sealant Glaze. The sealant creates an elastic seal on your carbon fiber accessories which is heat and scratch proof, and is resistant to Ultra Violet rays, acid rain and salt water. This seal proves efficient for a period of up to 12 months. The seal is user friendly and only needs to be applied twice per year.
