Caring for Our Elderly

When You Get Old, Safety is a Matter that Really Counts

Pedro Sanz
In most Latin American countries, the concept of medical alarms is mistaken for something related to public health. When in reality, a medical alarm is a device designed to help elderly people to be safe when they are living alone or they suffer from a disease that cause them memory blackouts such as Alzheimer, Epilepsy and other sufferings related to their condition of aging.

These tiny devices such as bracelets, pendants or watches are indeed live saviours when it comes to senior persons wearing the alarm. This type of medical alert is then conected to a medical alarm center that monitors 24 h a day each client / patient. If something goes wrong with the medical alarm bearer, then the person easily pushes the button installed on their medical alarm bracelet or device, and an alarm is triggered to the alarm monitoring center.

As a society, we should be more preocupied in our seniors' safety. Our parents and grand-parents constitute one of the pillar s of society and we owe them as much. The alarm industry has developped many devices to help us with the inexorable pace of time and it is up to us to take care of our old family members in a decent way. Especially, when it comes to the Latin American family pattern, a help like this is welcomed as it is known that for a Latin American, the family is very important and especially referring to the figure of a parent and grandparent. So why not insert into today's debate the question of our seniors's well-being and our duty towards their aging issues as well as their need to feel safe but at the same time independent. Let's start be more conscious about their safety and defend the right of having a medical alarm support for each and every one of our senior citizens providing them the opportunity of enjoying their life and not conseidering themselves as a a burden for the rest of the family. Our parents deserve the best of care and it is up to us to insure them a proper and comfortable life as much as possible when they get old. And the medical alarm for elderly will make a difference. Start being interested in your senior family members' well-being and show them that this technical advance is something they can rely on offering them a more independent and better quality life but with a 24 h care at the same time.
