Carlos Dunlap DUI Arrest Could Hurt Gators Against Tide

Carlos Dunlap's DUI Arrest has suddenly become the X factor in the upcoming SEC title game. Carlos Dunlap, if you haven't been paying attention, is an NFL prospect at Defensive End for the Florida Gators. The arrest of Carlos Dunlap could absolutely play a huge role in the Gators SEC title hopes on Saturday against Alabama.

If Carlos Dunlap can not play because of the DUI arrest, then Alabama could gain an edge considering their strong ground attack will have one less top notch Gator to deal with. Not to mention Carlos Dunlap has a terrific ability to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

The Associated Press reported that Carlos Dunlap was found asleep at the wheel of his Chrysler at 3:25 am Tuesday after police were told there was a reckless driver near the University of Florida campus. That led to his DUI arrest.

Should Florida wait until a court date and allow Carlos Dunlap to play in the SEC title game despite the DUI arrest? The stakes are high considering the winner will move on to the National Championship game and gain the top ranking in the country. Should a player like Carlos Dunlap even be considered eligible to play after what must have been a violation of team rules with the DUI arrest? My guess is Carlos Dunlap is done for the season and will not be allowed to play for the Gators in the SEC title game or the BCS game. But stranger things have certainly happened.
