Josh Koebert has posted an article on MiLB.com, 2010 Beat The Streak titled "Chiefs Top Kernels 3-1 in Silva Rehab." Mr. Koebert reports that the Chiefs won the series three games to one.
The game was a game of home runs. The Chiefs had the first one hit in the second inning by Jae-Hoon Ha off of Kernels' starter Max Russell. The second and third run came in the sixth inning from a two-run homer by DJ Fitzgerald also off of Russell.
Down by two runs in the ninth inning the Kernels threatened but were unable to pull off a comeback.
How did Silva do?
Silva did very well in this outing. I'm sure that the Cubs got the type of result they were hoping for. Silva pitched for two and 2/3 inning. He did not allow any runs and allowed two singles both in the infield. He struck out one batter.
The Chiefs are still trying to reach the playoffs currently brandishing a 66-60 record.
The Peoria Chiefs play at a facility called O'Brien Field. I have linked to pictures of the facility. While we are pretty late in the season the reader should know that it is a wonderful place to watch a ballgame. If you live in Illinois it is a great place to come if you are ever in Peoria.
Unfortunately as I reported on earlier this evening the Cubs did not fare as well as the Chiefs losing to the Cincinnati Reds 7-1. It was exciting to see Jay Bruce hit three homer runs in one game. It was too bad that he was not on our side.
It is always nice to know that the Chiefs are working on guys for the future.
