Carly Fiorina Sheep Commercial - Strange Political Attack on Tom Campbell

Brandon Miller
It's about that time of year again. Elections are coming up in the fall and presence of political propaganda is on the rise. I thought that I had seen it all until I stumbled upon a new political ad endorsed by Carly Fiorina, former Hewlett-Packard CEO planning to run for a California senate seat in the 2010 election. The advertisement, strangely featuring herds of sheep, is focused on attacking her fellow Republican Tom Campbell who is also planning to run for the same position.

The advertisement starts out showing a herd of sheep in a field. Suddenly, one of the sheep is thrust into the air on a giant stone pillar. The blue sky around the sheep begins to turn black, and lightning begins to flash. The sheep then falls from the pillar and plunges back toward the ground. The ad then goes on to describe how fiscally irresponsible Tom Campbell is. After this spiel, the scene changes back to the sheep showing an evil looking sheep with red glowing eyes peeking out from behind a tree.. The sheep then joins the rest of the herd and seems to imply that the evil sheep (Tom Campbell) is there to deceive and wreck havoc within the herd.

Are you kidding me? First of all, what the heck does sheep have to do with anything? That's really beside the point, so for the sake of our sanity, we wont go there.

Well, if Carly Fiorina wanted to accomplish something with this ad, she certainly accomplished getting everyone's attention. Although, I'm not sure that she is going to get the attention that she wanted. In my opinion, this ad will most likely hurt her campaign more than it will help. She has shown that she lacks the ability to be professional and campaign without attacking her opponent.

Honestly, I believe that Carly Fiorina has lost her mind. She comes across as a smart, sophisticated, business savvy person. However, this commercial seems to bring out her true colors. I am tired of political candidates basing their entire campaign on what their opponent has and hasn't done. What about themselves? Why can they not win based simply on the merits of their own agenda?

Originally, I liked Carly Fiorina, but now I'm not 100% sure. Not only was the video made in bad taste, but shows a side of the political candidate that I had not seen before. I don't know how this Senate race is going to end, but I can imagine that Carly Fiorina is going to have a tough time recovering from this one.

Okay, it's June 8. Have you voted today?

That is truly a strange add. I tend to view politics from afar while still pulling my weight as a voter. But this type of political intreague spooks me a bit.

This commercial is outright stupid. This does not highlight the candidate's accomplishments and what they stand for.

Nope. This is pure mudslinging, often a sign that one's campaign has lost it's direction and nobody knows what to do.

No one person has caused the mess that CA is now in.

There are a lot of problems, the chief of which is the bloated population, which has ruined the local environment due to smog and urban development.

I am sure that the people do not appreciate being called sheep in the ad, either.

I don't know any of these people or the commercial either

That is categorically the weirdest political commercial I've ever seen! Good work bringing it to us.

    Some people are like sheep.
