Carol Roach: The Story of a Canadian Writer's Journey

Leigh Vaughn
I met Carol online through a cool community web site called Gather. I enjoyed the articles she wrote on the Gather web site. When I learned she had written a book and had it published, picked up by Amazon and other book sites, I had to order it. I actually got it as a present for Christmas. If your mother likes to read it would make a great Mother's Day gift. My mom read it after I did and she enjoyed as well as I did. I had no idea our Gather community had a celebrity among us. Many others in our community were not aware of our Canadian Celebrity either, until I let them know. Since Carol lives in Canada she doesn't get paid to write on Gather, but she enjoys the Gather community and even has her own special group called Story time Tapestry.

Carol's Autobiography

This book is about Carol's life in Canada from childhood to a grown woman with a child of her own. Carol has many obstacles to overcome, including her parents abandoning her. Her grandmother takes care of her the best she can. The family came from a poor background. Carol visits her mother only on rare occasions. Carol's Life Journey, beginning with her childhood, was very rough, right from the beginning. Her story tells about her pets, friends, learning about prejudice and other childhood lessons.

Memories and More

Carol cover's memories from childhood on up, including many different subjects, such as her love for animals, making friends and losing friends. As she grows up, she learns many more of life's lessons, good and bad. She grows up, gets married, has a child and ends up being a divorced, single mother struggling to get by. She is a strong person who for the most part ended up raising her son on her own. She worked in telemarketing quite a bit, which I could really relate to, since I did the same type of work when jobs were scarce and my unemployment had run out.

Hard Times in School

Carol always had some hard times in school. A good friend encouraged her to go to University, (as they call it in Canada), and pursue her education. Carol majored in history at first and then switched to Psychology, where she excelled in some areas, in other areas, such as the sciences she had extreme difficulties. Believe it or not she even had some trouble with writing. This turns out to be another long journey for Carol, where she finds out things about herself she never knew. Carol makes it through University with help from her friend even after learning she has one or more learning disabilities she wasn't aware of.

A Variety of Subjects

Carol covers so many different, interesting subjects you don't want to stop reading it. The book has short chapters, which I love. I learned a lot of interesting information about different ways of treating depression, cultural differences and the history of psychology from this book as well. I loved all the stories. I highly recommend it to anyone. If you like to read you will love this book. You can check some great reviews on her book at the Amazon web site. This is a book you could read over and over again. Her book is a really enjoyable read. I couldn't stop reading it. There's apt to be more then one section of her book you can relate to.

Second and Third Books

Carol has already written her second book, which is called Angels Watching Over Me. You can read a synopsis about her second book on, Lulu, a publishing web site. It sounds like another winner. Carol is currently working on her third book and I'm looking forward to that one too. Carol also is the owner of a group on the Gather web site called Storytime Tapestry where she features stories and poems from a newsletter she writes. I hear her third book is going to be a collection of some of these articles, stories and poems.
