Carolina Liar - Coming to Terms - a Music Review

The Review of a Totally New Band

scyntst
Carolina Liar is a fresh new band whose major label debut album "Coming to Terms" was released on May 20, 2008. The members of the band are -
  • Chad Wolf - vocals, guitar

  • Johan Carlsson - keyboards

  • Jim Almgren Gândara - guitar

  • Rickard Göransson - guitar

  • Max Grahn - drums

  • Erik Hääger - bass

  • Randy Lane - drums (substitute)

Chad is from South Carolina but the rest of the members and the band itself is from Sweeden. The band became quite famous after one of the songs from the album - "I'm Not Over" became an instant hit. It became #119 on the US Billboard and was featured in EA Games' UEFA 2008 video game.

Chad has a very unique and different voice. His voice is very convincing and the listeners can connect with him. The music is perfect for the mood of every song. The fast zippy tracks like - "I'm Not Over" will have you tapping your feet and singing along in no time whereas the slow songs like "Coming to terms" will instantly make you see the versatality of this new band. The guitars are awesome in their debut album, especially the acoustic in "Coming to terms".

The lyrics are very meaningful and they make sense unlike some of the other songs that have become popular. Every single song has something to say and that is probably the best part of the album. You will not find a single nonsensical track. One of the tracks - "All that shit is gone" has a very Coldplay'ish feel to it.

Halfway through the album one becomes confused about the genre, because some tracks like - "All that shit is gone" and "California Bound" are Alternative Rock to the core. Nonetheless the tracks are still awesome. "California Bound" has some pretty good lines.

Here's a track list for you guys -

  1. "I'm Not Over" - 3:23

  2. "Coming To Terms" - 3:29

  3. "Last Night" - 3:50

  4. "Show Me What I'm Looking For" - 4:02

  5. "Simple Life" - 3:31

  6. "All That Shit is Gone" - 3:32

  7. "California Bound" - 3:59

  8. "Done Stealin" - 3:38

  9. "Something To Die For" - 3:37

  10. "Beautful World" - 4:08

  11. "Better Alone" - 3:52

  12. "When You Are Near" - 6:32

I would give this album a 7/10. Go listen to it yourself and have your own opinion...
