Caroline’s Diary

I've had the most horrible couple of days anyone could possibly have. It all started when Maggie babysat for a family on Wayland Street. She needed the extra cash after she was cut from her job. The family had just lost their 16 year old daughter. I guess it was pretty disturbing, but I don't know anything other than what was on the news.

Maggie stupidly sneaked into the girl's room to snoop, and found a diary. She could be such an idiot, but I loved her anyway. She was a good friend. I just wish she could have cut out the snooping. Apparently, the girl who died was a snoop too. She had written in her diary about how she was also reading a friend's diary. The only difference is that Maggie was IN HER 20s!

Anyway, I guess the girl was sort of crazy. Maggie said she couldn't cut out using the word twisted throughout her diary. She would talk about her family being twisted, about seeing some twisted metal near her house, and how she even started listening to Twisted Sister. That's probably the weirdest part. I told Maggie to cut it out though. I didn't want to hear anymore about what was in a poor dead girl's diary.

I just realized another strange coincidence. It was the way Maggie was found - in that girl's bedroom, with the diary in her hands - and her neck "twisted" all the way around. It never hit me before, because I wasn't thinking of that word when I heard about it. They said her head was turned around. It seems sort of strange, like that girl couldn't cut out using the word twisted, even as an action against the person snooping through her diary.

Wait, this is too weird. Maggie had a somewhat private diary she kept online that my friend Lisa and a couple of her other friends used to read. Supposedly, Lisa was stupidly reading the diary to her friends while she was driving. Someone cut her off when she had her accident, but they found her cell phone turned on with Maggie's diary open. I guess one of the passengers could have been holding the phone, but it sounds just like something Lisa would do. She couldn't cut out the texting (and reading) while driving, and everyone in the car died because of it.

The thing that's so weird is that I remember Maggie telling me about how she had just seen the movie Crash. She was also newly obsessed with the song "Crash into me." She kept singing it, no matter how often I told her to cut it out. I wonder if she wrote about that in her diary.

OK, so now I'm a little freaked out. Lisa left me her diary, and I've started reading it. But this is different because she wanted me to have it. She told me a long time ago that she wanted me to be the only one who could see it if anything ever happened to her. So everything should be fine. It's just that she keeps using the word "fall," and I live in a high rise.

This is just stupid. Nobody is going to die from reading a diary. That's the realm of silly horror movies that are funnier than they are scary. The scariest thing coming up in my life right now is tax day. That's the only thing I have to fear. It's not like I'm going to go jump off the roof or something. I just wish I could cut out thinking about this.

Now it's making me crazy. OK, I'm going to go outside and get some air on the balcony and look at the pretty lights. I'll relax and cut out all the negativity and be right back ...
