Carol's Daughter Candy Paint Lip Gloss in "Bronze Goddess"

The Pen
A few weeks ago I was at a Macy's browsing around at the Carol's Daughter counter when I saw a tube of Candy Paint lip gloss in the Bronze Goddess shade. It reminded me of a lip gloss that I wore a few years ago that's now discontinued so I bought a tube for $13.50.

Carol's Daughter Candy Paint comes in a small gray box, the lip gloss inside is in a small squeeze-able tube that has a pointed applicator tip to make it easier to apply. Candy Paint is an all natural formula that contains ingredients like shea butter, grape seed oil, aloe vera, and vitamin E. The Bronze Goddess shade looks like a dark bronze or a deep copper shade and it kind of reminds of cherry cola.

Carol's Daughter claims that the Candy Paint glosses are a "distinctive, high shine lip treatment" that "glides on smoothly to deliver luxurious color."

I tried on the gloss later that evening to test it out. It left my lips tingling slightly and made my mouth feel cool because of the mint in it. I found that it did feel smooth as it went onto my lips and it has a really creamy texture.

When I applied one coat of Bronze Goddess the color looked like a sheer brown and when I put on two the color showed up more intensely as a brown shade with pink undertones. The color was very flattering against my brown skin and even made my teeth look whiter.

I did think Sheer Bronze was really sophisticated, but it's a little darker than the lip colors I'm used to wearing and it reminded me of the dark lip shades people wore in the 90's so I wasn't completely comfortable wearing it out.

I also think Carol's Daughter Candy Paint is really thick, even though it has a creamy texture it's one of those glosses that start to leave a yucky buildup if you apply it a few times throughout the day. I also couldn't get an even looking coat when I applied it straight from the tube, so I wound up having to use my finger to spread it out evenly.

In the End...

I think Carol's Daughter Candy Paint in Bronze Goddess is a really fierce lip color. Because it's so flattering to my skin I don't want to just throw it out so I think I'm going to get over my fear of its dark tone and wear it during the fall with some cool gold and green eye shadows. Sometimes you just have to do as Tim Gunn says and "make it work." I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
