Carol's Daughter Rosemary Mint Herbal Shampoo with Sea Moss Review

The Pen
I'm African American and I used to use hair relaxers but after I went natural I found that I really needed a gentle and moisturizing shampoo to soften my dry coarse hair. After trying a few shampoos from the drugstore that made it dry, I knew I had to buy one from the Carol's Daughter line because their natural hair products have usually worked for me.

I went to Sephora and found the Carol's Daughter Rosemary Mint Herbal Shampoo with Sea Moss. It comes in an 8oz c-thru plastic bottle with the usual tan and earthy Carol's Daughter label, it retails for $12.50.

The shampoo is a dark tan color and it smells like a mixture of castile soap, mint, and Vick's Vapor Rub it's very invigorating.

Carol's Daughter claims for the Rosemary Mint with Sea Moss is pretty straightforward, the label just says it's a detangling formula for dry hair.

The Herbal Shampoo contains mostly natural ingredients like lavender, rosemary, sage leaf, calendula, and clover extracts, coconut, olive, and jojoba oils, aloe vera water, sea moss, castile soap, & essential oils of peppermint and rosemary. The last few ingredients are made from chemicals but it doesn't contain any sulfates.

I've been using this one bottle of Rosemary Mint Herbal shampoo consistently to cleanse my hair weekly for the last year and a half and I still have 2oz left. A quarter size dollop is all I usually need to cleanse my thick hair gently. It replenishes the moisture that my hair loses throughout the week and doesn't make it feel stripped at all.

After using the Rosemary Mint Herbal I find that a light conditioner is all I need to make my strands feel soft and hydrated, whereas with other shampoos I have to let a deep conditioner penetrate them for half an hour to get the same results.

This Carol's Daughter product also makes my scalp feel great, the mint feels tingly and cool when it's massaged into the scalp, it's really nice to use in the summer months or after exercising.

I do have a few issues with this Carol's Daughter shampoo though. Even though it claims to be a detangling formula, it really didn't detangle my thick, kinky hair that's full of tangles and didn't make it easier to comb them out.

Also I'm a big fan of the Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, I use it on my hair and it winds up getting on my scalp, leaving an oily residue behind that lasts for days.

But whenever I use the Rosemary Mint Herbal Shampoo with Sea Moss it never fully breaks down the heavy butter from my scalp. So I have to add some baking soda to the Rosemary Mint Herbal every once in a while to clarify my hair and scalp.

My last problem with it though is that it really doesn't help to define my kinks and curls and it doesn't help to reduce frizz.

In the End...

Carol's Daughter Rosemary Mint Herbal Shampoo with Sea Moss will do the basics. It cleanses while helping to moisturize dry hair. It's one of the gentlest shampoos I've ever used so I think it'd work for people with all hair types. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
