Carpet Rugs

Carpet rugs are being manufactured in many different styles. New and improved materials are being produced each year by major manufacturers working to bring us more modern, eco-friendly and realistic carpet rugs. Consider the following when you are ready to purchase your next carpet rug.

Carpet Rugs By Manufacturer

Three of the major carpet rug manufacturers include Mohawk, Shaw, and Sphinx by Oriental Weavers.

  • Mohawk Industries - Mohawk has made a name in carpets for over 120 years now. Today, Mohawk is an industry leader as producer and distributor of flooring worldwide. Whether you have a residential project or a commercial application, you can purchase all your major flooring needs such as carpet, rugs, hardwood, laminate, ceramic tile, and vinyl flooring at an authorized Mohawk dealer. The company operates under four divisions with its own products, features, and brand name.
  • Shaw Industries - Leading the nation as a Dalton, Ga. based textile manufacturer Shaw Industries is the world's largest producer of carpets. Shaw began it's road to creating carpet and other flooring in 1946. Shaw has created soil and stain repellant products as well as patented locking systems on hard surfaces. Any Shaw product can be purchased from an authorized Shaw dealer.
  • Sphinx by Oriental Weavers - Sphinx carpet rugs combine form and function with the finest materials and most up to date styles. Sphinx carpet rugs are known for producing quality, value, and style in area rugs. They will last literally for years but remain affordable so they can be changed as needed.
Carpet Rugs By Material

Carpets are made from many materials. Each material serves a purpose and you should consider the following information when shopping for your next carpet rug.

· Nylon - probably the most expensive carpet fiber yet the most durable.

· Polyester - Inexpensive, stain resistant, tends to crush easily under heavy furniture or abrasive treatment.

· Acrylic - Close fiber to wool as any of the other synthetic fibers. Has a nice spring feel, resistant to soiling, easily cleaned, and low static

· Cotton - Soft on the feet. More eco-friendly product. Not very stain resistant. Doesn't clean very well.

· Wool - Very expensive. Elite carpet rug. Excellent resilience and durability.

· Polypropylene (Olefin) - Basically inexpensive with high stain resistance. Colorfast.
