Carrie Prejean Racy Photo Controversy Reminiscent of Sarah Palin's Treatment During Campaign?

Conservative Christian Women Under Attack

Carly Hart
It's barely been two weeks since the Miss USA pageant made the news because of a controversial question posed to Carrie Prejean, Miss California, regarding gay marriage. In a blog video post heard around the world, Perez Hilton slammed Carrie Prejean for her honest answer stating her personal belief in traditional marriage. Her answer sealed her fate and Carrie Prejean did not win the pageant because her answer did not suit Hilton, who is gay. Since then, she has become the poster child for traditional marriage, making the rounds on various couches in the entertainment industry speaking out about her Christian values and belief in traditional marriage. Now, racy photos of Carrie Prejean have surfaced on the Internet. The Dirty.com and thehollywoodgossip.com both have posted the racy pictures of Carrie Prejean at the heart of this new controversy. In light of the suggestive photos, calls of hypocrisy are ringing out across the net.

In response to the posting of the racy pictures, now plastered all over the Internet, Carrie Prejean released a statement, available in its entirety by following the sourced url below, stating that the photos were taken while modeling as a teenager.

Carrie Prejean stated, in part, "On April 19, I chose to answer a question during the 2009 Miss USA pageant in an honest and personal manner that expressed my views of the long-established definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman. That answer, and my commitment to stand by my beliefs, has since resulted in attacks on me and my integrity as a woman... Yet my comments defending traditional marriage have led to intimidation tactics that seek to undermine my reputation and somehow silence me and my beliefs, as if opinion is only a one-way street."

Do Carrie's Prejean's words ring familiar? Haven't we seen this movie before... starring Sarah Palin?

Sarah Palin had barely formally accepted the vice presidential nomination when liberal bloggers, such as Kos, started their attack on the petite conservative, anti-abortion governor of Alaska. Sarah Palin was pummeled with hateful innuendo regarding the maternity of her own special needs child. Once bloggers were set straight, they moved right on to attack her daughter Bristol, who was at that time pregnant.

The liberal press hounded Sarah Palin, attacking her conservative Christian faith and throwing her daughter's pregnancy in her face. Some went as far to insinuate that Sarah Palin was a bad mother because of Bristol's pregnancy and that somehow Bristol's unfortunate condition somehow negated the depth of her own conservative beliefs. Of particular concern was Sarah Palin's stance on gay marriage. Many in Hollywood, including Ellen Degeneres, a gay talk show host, publicly singled Sarah Palin out for her belief in traditional marriage. Also coming under heavy fire was Sarah Palin's connection to Wasilla Bible Church, as well as her God-centric remarks regarding the war in Iraq.

Remember when Americans used their "values" to justify their treatment of Native Americans, or to justify forcing blacks to pick their cotton against their will? Evolve faster!

right on miss Prejean. remember, there are more people in this country for you. The ones attacking you see you as a threat. they are actually afraid of you and your convictions.

Altho' Prejean wasn't completely accurate in her statement about "anyone can choose same sex marriage or opposite marriage" (not true until same-sex marriage is lega in every state), I think it is Hilton who should be getting slammed more for setting her up and calling her names. And yes, the dirt-digging goes on more against conservs than libs.

Not sure who the "they" is that is conducting all of this alleged attacking. Ms. Prejean's answer, regardless of intent, was borderline incoherent, and reminiscent of Ms. South Carolina's a couple of years ago. As for the photos, this is not "oh that was then." She has defended them in a typically incoherent press release. I am just curious how her school, San Diego Christian College (founded by LaHaye) is going to look upon these photos. Though they seemed to have no problem with her parading around in a bikini. I imagine if a student wore something like that on their campus, that student would be kicked out.

Hey Carrie! You don't have to defend yourself. I agree marriage is between man and woman. You shouldn't have to be silent. It's sad what America thinks they can control. I back you 100%!!

These women put themselves in the public eye, therefore they will be judged by the public.
Palin is going to have to become used to this type of coverage if she plans to run for President.
Ms California should have been prepared for this no matter, since she poised for the photographs. She may have made a mistake having these photos taken but eventually they would have come out and since she is a Christian she will undoubledly face critcism. That is the society in which we live. I would have hoped her beliefs would have kept her from making these type photos. This isn't the role model I want for my daughters but each to their own. Anyway she seems to be a tough young lady and no doubt she will do well in life.

I think that her protestations of being a Christian and racey photos don't mesh. Then again, being a sinner, making mistakes AND being a Christian sure do. It seems that there is a fair bit of Schadenfreude aimed at the Miss.

Hhm, what's worse the hypocrisy that leads to the attacks or the holier-than-thou rush to judge? Why do people believe they have to have an opinion about everything? For someone like Palin who is in politics and wants to represent others based on her believe, the scrutiny is fairer I think than for others who are in the limelight but not asking others to endorse their beliefs.
