Carrie Underwood Induction into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame
Was Carrie Underwood Dissed by Perez Hilton About Her Induction?
She has come along way since her win on the show. Carrie Underwood has several number one hits under her belt and being a CMA winner to boot.
Perez Hilton feels she is a bit young to be inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. He didn't go into details as to why he asked the question while blogging about Carrie Underwood's latest achievement. I can't say if the popular blogger is jealous or would prefer to have someone else inducted in her place since he didn't elaborate on his opening question about Carrie Underwood.
It sounds he is dissing Carrie Underwood due to her age and popularity from American Idol and her career. Not only did he ask if she was to young, he also wanted to know if Oklahoma was starved for musicians to honor?
Not only does the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame induct great musicians, they honor others who have been a driving for in the music industry in Oklahoma. The music instructor C.H. Parker at Northeastern State University will receive the Governor's Award. C.H. Parker also has coordinated a music program called Downtown Country; which Carrie Underwood preformed in.
The readers of Perez Hilton's blog thought he was feel quite different than he does about Carrie Underwood. There are a few, as with any group, who agree with Perez Hilton's observation on Carrie Underwood.
If you are any kind of music fan, you know there are quite a few musicians from Oklahoma. Carrie Underwood will be joining David Gates, Hank Thompson, Wanda Jackson, Toby Keith, Vince Gill, and others.
Reba McIntire and Garth Brooks wasn't listed on the homepage of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame's website as one of the inductees. Many of you will recognize Reba McIntire's voice as part of the country music scene, as well as her show that is now in syndication on television. What can I say about Garth Brooks that hasn't already been said? Not much, I imagine.
Carrie Underwood deserves her spot in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. Why should musicians wait until they are dead before being inducted into any hall of fame? After all, this isn't the only music hall of fame across the country.

Post a CommentI thank you for your comments on this topic about Carrie Underwood and The Oklahoma Music hall of fame. Being from Oklahoma, I know of all these great folks you have mentioned. Heck, I even, in a round about way knew Garth Brooks before his fame. There are even those who are indie artists in Oklahoma who are very good. Most of them play and sing for their enjoyment and the small followings they have. I wouldn't mind seeing something being put in place for those artists as well.
I am a former President of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and Museum. I thought I might blog here to clear up some misconceptions related to Carrie's induction and about the notion that Oklahoma is "hard up" for inductees.
First, Carrie is more than qualified to be inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. Anyone that thinks otherwise is very misinformed.
Secondly, there are many many musicians that are qualified and well deserving. The goal of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and Musuem is to honor and preserve Oklahoma Music. Sometimes, it takes a bright light such as Ms Underwoods, to shine on the great musicians from the past. Her career not only enhances her image, but it shines on the ones from the past. For instance, our first induction honored, Merle Haggard, Patty Page, Woody Guthrie and Claude Williams. You ask, who is Claude Williams. Mr. Williams was a very famous jazz fiddle player born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Go google him sometime. Everyone came
