Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher's CMT Kiss

Karen Gros
If you watched the CMT Award show on Wednesday June 9, 2010, you probably got several glimpses of country superstar Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, a center for the Ottawa Senators hockey team sitting in the audience. The couple became engaged this past December right before Christmas. News stories were reporting a huge rock on Carrie's finger and since that time not much has been said about the big day. Wedding plans have been kept under wrap and secret with only a few details coming out of either Carrie or Mike's mouth, much to the dismay of fans.

Setting a tone for privacy, the couple have been keeping their relationship private and releasing very few details about the wedding, including the date of the wedding. Just recently Carrie announced that the wedding would probably take place in July. That's only a few weeks away! Earlier she noted that it would be a "summer" wedding. So we have the approximate date outlined now....sometime in July. Touring won't be constant and Mike's hockey season is over, so it is the perfect time to get hitched!

It was a surprising moment and maybe THE highlight of the night for the audience and for fans watching the CMT Awards at home to see Carrie lean over and kiss Mike after her name was announced as a winner. It wasn't just a quick peck, they pretty much locked it up and lingered! You can see photographs of the kiss in the Ottawa Citizen in case you missed it.

There were plenty of chances to check out Carrie's huge engagement ring too as she performed her current hit "Undo It." The performance started out with a bit of a sound problem and it was quickly fixed to allow Carrie to set the stage on fire, as well as her fans. The ring is estimated to be worth millions.

Underwood went on to win two CMT Awards, including the top award of the night for Video of the Year. She also took home the award for Video Performance of the Year. She was the only artist to win tow CMT awards this year.

Regardless, the famous couple looked very happy at the CMT Awards. Showing affection in public is not something they have done in the past. Will this be a new era for the couple? Or was Carrie just caught up in the moment?

It seems like the less some of these couples show to the public, the better off they are. It's always nice to see happiness :-)
