Carrot Recipe Ideas

This year some gardens did well, if you have an over abundance of carrots, this article has some ideas for you. Carrot cakes, salads, soups, sandwich spreads all made from scratch are healthy snacks, or meals for your family.

Carrots are high in vitamins and minerals we need to ensure good health. Did you know that carrots come in orange, black, pink, red, yellow, and white? Here in the United States orange is about the only variety we can find, unless of course you plant some seeds. They are super easy to grow.

One of the best things you can do for an infant is puree come cooked carrots in the blender or food processor. When you make it, yourself you can be sure that you are feeding your precious infant the very best vegetables. Once your baby is eating, finger foods slice the fresh homegrown carrots, which are cooked until tender, and cut in bite-sized pieces make the perfect finger food.

Wash a few carrots, toss them in the blender, and give them a whirl. This juice is very good for you and has tons of beta-carotene, which is great for helping to assure we are healthy. The juice can remain in the refrigerator for up to a month in a covered container.

If you make your own homemade ice cream, you can add in shredded carrots and raisins to create a unique flavor.

Next time you mix up a can of tuna with mayonnaise or salad dressing toss in some shredded carrots for extra flavor and texture. This also works in chicken, ham or turkey salads, and gives them all a boost in nutrition.

Of course, nothing beats a fresh carrot cake and its better when the vegetables are fresh from the garden. This cake is great plain but some people chose to top of off with butter cream, vanilla, or cream cheese frosting. Not to mention as you are baking it fills your home with an incredible aroma.

People also shred carrots and add them to soups, stuffing, or as a topping for a garden salad of mixed greens. It really does not matter how you use them up, the internet is full of ideas on your abundance.
