Carry-In Meals: Seem to Be Fun, Just Not For Me

Kay Bennett
I don't know maybe this is more of a query than anything. I just need to know are the people where you work obsessed with food; are they obsessed with the daily lets go home and cook something or buy something and bring it to work, pile it all on one big table and eat all day long?

It is that way where I work. Now, to the average individual this may sound like utopia, but to an individual like myself, who does not need to eat anything else, ever, this could be a bit of a dilemma.

First dilemma, I am a diabetic and these people who always want to carry the food in live for sweets and the thing is most of them are also diabetic and no they are not serving diabetic friendly foods at these things.

Second. I hardly eat my cooking, so I really don't want to eat a strangers. You just never know.

Third I did not realize that just because food is present means you have to eat it.

I mean I get maybe once or twice a year, you know, Thanksgiving, Christmas, maybe even New Years., but every time someone is born, or dies, or comes with a problem and shares it with the group, they say I know let's have a carry-in. I don't get it. and most of the time I don't want to partake. First it was go ahead get you something it is plenty and I am like no, that is alright I didn't bring anything and I don't think that would be fair. Then it was girl you never bring anything and you are always over here eating. So, I stopped eating and I stopped being involved and then it was we need money so we can eat. Now, mind you I gave up the carry-in., but the pod people still has a need for me to be involved in the ritual.

One more thing. All of the people that has this obsession with food and a need to carry it in they have all had "the" weight loss surgery. Do you think that it has backfired terribly or is it that they now think they are skinny enough to eat until they burst. Honey, that could not be further from the truth, Ruth.

Honestly, I go to work to work. I know, sounds really dull and well boring., but hey, that is who I am and I like me that way. Dull and boring earns my paycheck, keeps my name off of the oh my god we have got to find a way to get rid of this person list, no one ever has to worry about getting poisoned from something that was supposed to be passed off as food. I have saved many lives by not joining in. I give money, I don't eat and everyone just stares at me as though I have an ulterior motive and I do. I just don't want to get fatter, lose my little toe, or my big toe for that matter, I want to watch my weight so I can watch my children and grandchildren grow up. I just want to feel healthy, not bloated.

So, how many people has been accosted by the carry-in animal and survived to tell the tale?
