Carrying Case for Toys from the Movie CARS: Don't Waste Your Money

My son would watch the movie CARS at the sitters house everyday so we decided to see if he would be interested in playing with the toy cars as well. Yes, he loves them! So I ran out the store as quickly as I could and bought him as many cars I could fine. I am a bit obsessive when it comes to this. I always overbuy something when I know my son likes to play with it. I don't know why I do this.

So needless to say I ended up with almost every single car from the movie. But I like to be organized and having all these cars all over the house wasn't working for me. I would come home from work and trip on a car everywhere I turned. So before I ended up throwing my back out by slipping on a car I went back out to the store and bought the CARS carrying case. My sister had bought this case for her children but I never though to ask her how she liked it. Now that I think back that was a mistake. I should have called her first before I made this purchase.

So here I thought this was the answer to my problem of disorganization. Unfortunately as I soon discovered this definitely was not my answer. The case was horrible. Or at least I think so. Maybe if I wasn't so picky it would be fine.

This is what I found to be some of the problems. They are as follows:

1. There aren't enough spaces for each car from the movie. So now I have extra cars and no where to put them. I am back to having cards everywhere. Didn't that defeat the whole purpose of buying this case?

2. Some of the spaces aren't wide enough to fit the car that is supposed to go in there. Why did the maker of this case do that. The case only fits the dye cast cars not the plastic ones. I tried putting the plastic Luigi in and it doesn't fit at all.

3. The case is made very cheaply out of plastic. My son has stepped it by accident and the handles popped out. My husband had to snap them back in. I though he broke it.

4. The handles keep breaking. Like I stated earlier my husband has to keep fixing this problem.

5. It is in the shape of a racetrack which I thought was cute because of the movie but the weird shape makes it hard to put away in an orderly fashion. It doesn't fit nicely in the toy chest. This might not be a problem for you but I am very OCD about putting this away.

6. The top of the case is all scratched up. My son likes to takes the cars and have them race around on the top but now the top is all scratched up. It looks old like we got it years ago but it is brand new.

7. Another problem is that some of the pictures in the case are hard to tell which car goes in. The colors are a little off and different from the cars in the movie. Like for example Ramone comes in many colors so of course I had to buy 3 of them. Well there is only one spot for Ramone. Now what. Return the others or buy another case?

Bottom line I was very disappointed with this purchase. It would have been better if the design was more desirable to fit all of the cars they show in the movie. I am back to having cars all over the house again. The case needed to be bigger so it could hold more cars. I am glad my son isn't old enought to really understand that this case stinks. The case that his hot wheels comes in is great. He is just getting in to those so we shall see. I'll keep you posted on that carry case.

My grandbaby loves to play with these cars also. His cars too, were everywhere, so what I did was went out and purchased two of the cars lunch boxes (which were made of material). It is perfect for the larger cars, along with the smaller cars. My grandson will not be 2 until next month. He has learned to pick up his cars after playing with them, this has helped him in taking care of his own toys. He acts like he is a bog boy for helping his mom. He loves to take part in keeping his toys together. The lunch boxes are very durable.
