Royal Oak residents who live around Edgewood street need to be especially careful as there have been incidents on that street of people entering cars to steal items from them. There are a few simple things that residents can do to keep themselves safer from these types of incidents.

In both cases, people who were parked on Edgewood in Royal Oak had their GPS devices stolen from their cars on November 22nd. One of the victims had a few other items stolen as well. In both cases, the car doors were left unlocked. A person was reported on November 27th as going from car to car and testing the doors to see if they were unlocked. A definitive description of this person could not be given.

Michael Hamplin, who lives just off of Edgewood stated that the police told him that they believe that that the person testing the car doors might be the same one that stole the items from cars just a week ago. He also said that the police told him that by keeping items in the car hidden, and your car door locked, you might be able to prevent a criminal from targeting your car.
