Cartoon Network 2012 Programming

Ken Lyons

Between 2002 and 2005, I predicted that the anime series "Pokemon" would begin running on Cartoon Network (at least the original 1st and 2nd seasons anyway). About a year or two later, I made a prediction that the network would acquire "Johnny Test," and not only has Cartoon Network acquired this rather amusing series, new episodes are constantly airing even after leaving the home of the now non-existent "Kids WB."

Needless to say, 2011 was exciting and you should expect 2012 to be very lively and eventful.

"Adventure Time" will now air at 6:30p.m. (central) on Monday's and "The Amazing World of Gumball" will shift to Tuesday's at 6:30p.m.(central). Obviously, this is public information now, but no worries, this movement is standard, especially when you anticipate time-slot growth as well as program success. Why shift a program as successful and popular as "Adventure Time" to a later time on the first day of the week!? Easy! More viewers! The later the time, the more the viewers! Its prime-time for kids and the kids at heart. As for "The Amazing World of Gumball," this show really can fit "almost" anywhere in the Cartoon Network time slot, but funny and creative fits for prime-time right now, as it seems. "The Regular Show" in all its unique twists and turns and broad characters doesn't seem to be going anywhere. The show will remain in the same time slot. Continue to expect "Johnny Test" to be the show that remains as a gateway into the programming that Cartoon Network is trying to hype up the most.

For those of you who have the privilege to catch Cartoon Network during the week, you may have noticed the network sneak in programming such as "Codename: Kids Next Door" or "The Grimm Adventures of Billy & Mandy." In fact, you can't help but catch an old school episode of "Looney Tunes." Needless to say, I'm proud to see both the old-school and "The Looney Tunes Show" on the air. To me, that means that Cartoon Network still appreciates its creative past and is not afraid to show it!!! I am ashamed that I nearly doubted!!! Going into 2012, I anticipate more special treats like this, especially as we get closer and closer to the summer of 2012.

Cartoon Network's programming is going to be very interesting going into 2012 and with that only time will truly tell.
