There are approximately twenty eight mini tacos in this box. These snacks are frozen and packaged in a plastic bag inside the outer box. The tacos can be heated in either a convention oven or in the microwave. I prefer to heat this snack in the oven, as with most foods that can be prepared either way. After preheating the oven to four hundred and twenty five degrees, the number of desired mini tacos get placed on a baking sheet and then heated for eight to ten minutes. If a quicker and more convenient cooking method is desired, simply place several tacos on a microwave safe plate and cook on high for one to two minutes. No more than eight tacos should be cooked at one time if choosing to prepare this food in the microwave.
Each four piece serving of this snack food contains two hundred and thirty calories. There is twelve grams of Fat in this portion size with four grams from Saturated Fat. There is no Trans Fat in this snack food, which is a very good thing. There is also twenty five milligrams of Cholesterol, four hundred and forty milligrams of Sodium and twenty three grams of total Carbohydrate. On the positive side, this frozen snack food contains eight grams of Protein, eight percent of the daily recommended value of Vitamin A, ten percent of Calcium and six percent of Iron. For those concerned with their Sodium intake, it should be noted that the amount in each four piece serving of these mini tacos represents eighteen percent of the daily recommended value.
From the very first bite of these mini tacos, I was hooked. The shells crisped up very nicely in the oven. The microwave cooking method produced slightly less crunchy taco shells, which may or may not be an issue with everyone. The beef and cheese mixture inside the shell was very tasty, without being too spicy. This mini taco snack was nicely enhanced with salsa, sour cream and a bit of taco sauce. Chopped tomatoes, olives and shreds of lettuce can also be added to this appetizer to make it more of a meal. I will definitely be purchasing Casa Mamita Beef & Cheese Mini Tacos for the football extravaganza this year. These fun snacks are easy to prepare, taste delicious and can be used as a base for a heartier meal. The high Sodium and high Fat content of this yummy snack makes it one that I would not serve to my family on a regular basis, but would definitely pull out for entertaining on holidays and special occasions. I give this frozen snack food a four star food rating.
