Casey Anthony Jury Selection Halted, Again

Abby Greenhill
The Casey Anthony jury selection has been a slow process. It seems that on a daily basis something, or someone, throws a monkey wrench into the judicial system. Today was no exception.

Today's episode went like this: A woman had an outburst in the courtroom this morning. Elizabeth Ann Rogers, a 29-year-old, yelled out, "She killed somebody anyway" as a potential juror was being questioned. It was stated that the outburst frightened Casey Anthony and everyone in the courtroom went into panic mode. In this day and age, even in a courtroom, bad things can and do happen. Although many people may have a hard time believing Casey Anthony is frightened by anything.

Rogers is familiar with law enforcement, or should I say law enforcement is familiar with her! She is also known as Elizabeth Reid. She has been arrested several times on various charges, mainly drug charges. She is currently on probation for a 2009 conviction of passing worthless checks. I guess she is fairly familiar with a court of law and perhaps she was just trying to share her knowledge with others with her outburst today.

Rogers was removed from the room, and then taken back in to the court to face Judge Perry. Perry grilled the woman, and, being a woman, that set off the tears. She did say she was sorry, several times actually. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Rogers told the judge that she is bi-polar and takes medication. Perhaps she needs to get her dosage adjusted! Elizabeth Rogers will miss a few days of the Casey Anthony jury selection, as she will be spending two days in jail herself! Maybe they should put her in the same cell with Casey Anthony.

The juror who was being questioned at the time of the outburst was subsequently excused. Jury selection went ahead at that point. To date, 17 prospective jurors have been selected, 12 plus 5 alternates.

This is only the beginning. We can only imagine what will happen next in the Casey Anthony jury selection. Once the jury is selected and actual trial begins, be prepared for anything.

This was bizarre, I saw it. I know courtrooms are supposed to be open to the public, but in this case I can't believe the gallery wasn't closed. Actually, just that day I thought to myself, "What if some nut got up and made a scene during jury selection." Really, I swear. I don't understand why they couldn't have brought 20 people in at a time, had the judge give them the "cart before the horse" speech and then let the lawyers grill them individually. This would have saved scads of time.

You know, we've missed almost this entire process. I cannot fathom the circumstances and do not envy the jurors. It must be heartbreaking to relive the horrible details. cheers

This is very big news in FL as we've all been following every detail of this case since Caylee's "disappearance." I can't imagine they could ever find an impartial jury in FL. Good report.
