Casey James Exits Idol with a Stunning Performance

Tonight Idol sent Texan Casey James home. While I truly thought Casey James might be the dark horse of Season nine, it was not to be. However Casey James exits Idol with a stunning performance and a huge smile on his face.

The show started by showing Casey James going home to Texas for his homecoming. His fans were out in full force rooting for Casey and one clip showed a little boy saying I want to shake your hand Casey James. That put on a smile on Casey's face. They also showed Casey returning to the hospital and thanking the doctors and nurses who saved his life after a motorcycle wreck. Doctors told him that he would never play guitar again but Casey James did not let this stop him from making sure they were not correct. James not only can sing but he can play guitar as good as any well-known guitar player out there. Whether it is an acoustic or electric guitar does not matter. After the clip of his homecoming and going back to see the doctors Casey was clearly chocked up, as was this viewer.

At the end of the show Lee DeWyse and Crystal Bowersox were announced as the two competing in the finale. I was a little saddened at the idea of Casey James not winning but now that I have had a little time to reflect I think not winning may be the best thing for him. It is clear Idol was rooting for a final two between Dewyse and Bowersox. As a fan of season five winner Taylor Hicks I know how Idol can treat those they do not think should have won. Plus the American Idol contract keeps you tied to them for a very long time.

Casey James is free to do the music he wants and the way he wants. After the Idol tour ends he is his own man. Casey James will be just fine and have a great career.

Another thing that made me realize I should not be sad for Casey is the way he acted after it was announced he would be leaving. Casey James sang the song Daughters by John Mayer, which he sang last night. I loved last night's performance but tonight's performance was stunning. Casey was out in the audience just singing and smiling and looked very happy. He showed what he can do and he went out with the most gracious and heartwarming exit that I have ever seen on American Idol. Must who are voted out sing their exit song and look sad and some tear up. Casey James was all smiles and enjoying performing the song.

Do not worry Casey James fans we have not seen the last of Casey James and without Idol guiding his music we will get the real Casey James.
