Before you leave for the casino, two numbers must be decided: a bankroll and a winning stop. The bankroll is an amount of money you are comfortable with losing. (You should never gamble with money you need for bills and other necessities.) This amount could be as little as $50 or as much as a few thousand dollars. Once you settle on an amount, take only that amount with you to the casino.
Also, leave your debit/credit cards in the car or at home to prevent the urge to gamble more if your bankroll is lost. The winning stop is an amount of money at which you will stop gambling. A reasonable amount is 100% of your bankroll. For example, if your bankroll is $200 you would stop gambling when you won $200 (you would have $400 total) to prevent the casino from recollecting your winnings if you were to start losing.
When entering the casino, do not rush to sit down at any particular table game. Make a few passes through the casino to see which tables seem to be hot. (Hot tables are tables where players are winning.) You can do this by judging the number of chips in front of the players and the dealer. The more chips in front of the players and a lower amount of chips in front of the dealer could signify a hot table. You should find a seat there if possible. Also, do not be afraid to ask the players at the table how they are doing. Most will tell you if they are winning. If that is the case, by all means, take a seat!
Since you have found a table, sit down and start playing. As you begin wining, start putting some chips in your pocket or purse. Keep track in your head how much you have put in there. Once you reach the amount you started with, you can breathe easy. No matter what happens to the chips you have on the table, you cannot lose money because you have the amount you started with in your pocket. On the other hand, if you should start losing do not panic. One good rule of thumb is if you lose four hands in a row, sit out a few hands. Also, you could even take a break and find a new table. If you lose your entire bankroll, leave the casino. Do not chase after your losses. There will be other days to come back and get revenge on the casino.
Lastly, always sign up for the casinos players club. The casino will give you free items based on the amount you gamble. You can get a players club card at the information desk in the casino. Present the card to the dealer when you sit down at a table and the casino will keep track of how much money you gamble. Over time, you could accrue enough players club points to qualify for free dinners, hotel stays or many other items.
When you follow these guidelines, you can increase your chances of becoming a winning casino gambler. Good luck at the casinos!

You skipped some steps. Surely there's a step between "Since you have found a table, sit down and start playing," and "As you begin winning." Or do you just instantly start winning if you find the right table, and if you're not winning, you're not at the right table? As an Industrial Engineer, did you ever consider taking a look at the math behind how to "win" at the casino?
