The park features a restaurant called "The Last Run Restaurant", which consists of a gift shop and a place to get some good food for the train rides. Staff will pack you a lunch for your trip. Also, another thing to do at Cass Scenic Railroad Park is to visit the museum that consists of items from the past of Cass, West Virginia.
Visitors can also take a guided tour to visit the Cass locomotive shop where trains are restored and repaired. You'll see many different types of tools that are used to work on the trains. Also, visitors can take a guided tour to visit the sites in the town of Cass, West Virginia. You'll see old architecture that was constructed during the town's heyday.
Train rides are available from the end of May thru October of each year. Currently, the 2010 ticket rates to Whittaker Station are $18.00 (adults) and $13.00 (child age 5-12) during the weekdays. Ticket prices to Whittaker Station on the weekend costs $21.00 (adult) and $16.00 (child age 5-12).
Bald Knob or Spruce run train ride is roughly a 4 ½ hour trip. Ticket price during the weekday is $24.00 (adult) and $17.00 (child age 5-12). Weekends cost $27.00 (adult) and $20.00 (child age 5-12). If you take this train ride be sure to bring a jacket or sweater because temperatures on Bald Knob are usually 10-15 degrees lower than normal temperatures from the starting point of the train ride.
Train rides during the end of September thru October are generally about $5.00 higher than regular ticket prices. Another great adventure for train rides is that the park holds a "Fiddles and Vittles Dinner and Train Package" where you'll take a train ride along with getting a meal to enjoy. Ticket prices for this train ride package costs $36.00 (adult) and $26.00 (child age 5-12).
Another great package is called a "Murder Mystery Train Package" where you'll get a dinner and try to solve. Ticket prices for this train ride package costs $42.00 (adult) and $32.00 (child age 5-12).
If you're the adventurer type you can coordinate with the park staff and they'll drop you off in the wilderness and stop and pick you up on your way out. Drop off locations are usually in remote wilderness areas of Cheat Mountain. You can take a bike and your camping gear to explore the wilderness.
