This gentle soap came into existence in the Castile region of Spain well over a hundred years ago. At that time the soap was made from olive oil.
Today, true Castile soap is made from one hundred percent biodegradable vegetable oils. Coconut oil adds the creamy lather. Store-bought soap lathers up thanks to an ingredient called "sodium lauryl sulfate". Ask yourself, which would you prefer to lather on your skin, natural creamy coconut oil or sodium lauryl sulfate? What the heck is sodium lauryl sulfate?
Many store-bought brands of soap claim they leave no residue on your skin after rinsing, which I have found to be a whole lot of hooey. These soaps not only leave residue, but also leave your skin feeling dry and itchy.
Castile soap, on the other hand, really does rinse clean away! It leaves no residue behind and also doesn't dry out your skin. My sensitive skin forces me to be careful about what I use on it. This soap has been a God send. My skin has never looked better and I feel truly clean after a shower.
I have oily/dry skin and a ruddy, somewhat grainy complexion. Using Castile soap has made my skin smoother and the tone and appearance more even. It does not clog pores! Mix a few drops of soap with a handful of table sugar. Use the sugar as an exfoliate. I guarantee you will be amazed at the difference you see in the mirror! I love this combination of natural cleansers and use it every night.
The truly amazing thing about this natural soap is that it can be used in countless ways, to wash your body, your face, your hair, your laundry, and even your teeth! It can be used to wash your pet (Keep out of Fido's eyes), and makes a good house cleaning soap when diluted with water as it cuts grease.
You may be leery about using the soap on your hair. I certainly was at first. Washing my hair with this soap quickly defeated that fear. My hair is soft and shiny clean.
Try it as a shave cream! I tossed my bottle of shave cream after using Castile soap in its place.
Think of it: No more buying shampoos, conditioners, bar soaps, and facial cleansers. You have it all in one bar or a bottle. Imagine the room you will have in your personal items travel bag! A bar of soap, a wash cloth, a toothbrush, and a razor and you, my friend, are good to go.
Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap is probably the most well-known brand. Its ingredients are the following: water, saponified organic coconut and organic olive oils (w/retained glycerin), organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, citric acid, vitamin E. That's it.
This brand of soap can be bought in most major drug stores in either bottle or bar form. An 8 ounce bottle costs around $7.00. It sounds pricey, true, but this soap is concentrated so all you need are a few drops at a time. Besides, add up how much it currently costs you to buy shampoo, conditioner, body wash or soap, and shave cream. The total will be more than $7.00, but you will not get the same terrific results from those commercial brands as you will from a single bar or bottle of Castile soap.
Dr. Bronner's brand comes in regular, lavender, peppermint, tea tree oil (great as deodorant soap), and a gentle baby formula.
Castile soap--just pure all natural ingredients that, when combined, create the best soap you will ever use. The best soap and the last.

Post a CommentI have a hormonal imbalance and seem to have rosacea, both of which make my skin extremely sensitive. On top of that, I seem to have the same complexion as you do. I've been using another brand that is great and really seems to help control my break outs and skin irritation, but I'm not too keen on some of the ingredients. So, I decided to do a little research on Castile soap. Your article is just what I was looking for. Thank you. :-)
