Casting for Lionsgate's feature film "The Hunger Games" lead roles are taking shape as Jennifer Lawrence signs on to play Katniss Everdeen. Now casting calls are out for the film's other lead roles, and actors for the supporting roles will be auditioning soon.

Casting director Debra Zane said that she and her staff have opened every single submission sent in to her Los Angeles office for the role of Katniss Everdeen. There have been many thousands of submissions from all ends of the world. However for this role, no unknown talent was discovered, and Academy Award nominated Jennifer Lawrence beat out Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Emily Browning for the starring role.

Power-agent Adam Schweitzer of ICM recently stated that studios are willing to take chances on completely unknown actors in many of these roles because the title of the film is the box-office draw, not a famous A-list name celebrity. However, the actor chosen must have very proficient acting skills, thus the hiring of proven talent takes precedence over audiences imaginary preconceptions of a novels protagonists.

Details on how talent can submit for acting roles, and registration information for extras can be found on the following casting post:
