Castle of Gold

John Estes
Once upon a time,
I went on a journey
To a place nobody knows
To a place nobody knows

It was an ocean
On the other side of the world
And I saw a castle
Made of solid gold

And you know that Castle of Gold
Was a sight to behold, but I was all alone
And you know that gold was worth the world
Like one giant pearl, but I was all alone

Once upon a time
I went on a journey
To forest dark and twisted
And owned by a crow
But you should know
You were there with me
You gave me sword and shield
To fight off that old crow

And you know the night we fought the crow
It was very cold, but we were not alone
And you know that night meant more than gold
A sight to behold, for we were not alone

And for those of you who cannot understand this
Of what I am speaking of
I'd rather be in a forest dark and twisted
Than in a castle of gold without love
