"Castle's" Nikki Heat Comes to Life

Laura Prepon to Take on the Role of Nikki Heat

Alice Clair Gunkee
Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is a murder-mystery/crime-thriller writer on the hit dramedy "Castle." Castle has been given the go-ahead to shadow Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) of the New York Police Department in order to gather real-life information to put into his novels. Much to her disapproval, Beckett has become the title character of Castle's newest string of novels in the form of Nikki Heat.

In a story-within-a-story, actress Laura Prepon (That '70s Show) has been cast as Natalie Gray who is the actress that will portray Nikki Heat in an upcoming movie within the show that will be based on one of Castle's novels. To learn about the Nikki Heat character, Gray will travel to New York and shadow Beckett and Castle as they try to solve the case of the murder of a millionaire matchmaker.

As for who should play Castle and Beckett in the fictional film, Fillion and Katic have some ideas of their own. Fillion has voiced his desire to have Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace) or Elijah Woods (9) to play Castle, and Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2) as Beckett. Katic's ideas to portray Beckett are Cate Blanchett (Robin Hood) opposite of Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man 2), or Rachel McAdams (The Time Traveler's Wife) opposite Tom Hardy (Inception), or (tongue-in-cheek) Angelina Jolie opposite George Clooney.

Co-star Seamus Dever would love for his real-life friend Zachary Quinto (Heroes, Star Trek) to play his role of Detective Kevin Ryan in the flick, and put Kyle MacLachlan (Desperate Housewives) as the front-runner for Castle.

Who do you think should play Castle and Becket in this story-within-a-story?
Prepon is tentatively scheduled to appear on the January 3rd episode of "Castle" which airs at 10:00pm on ABC.
