Rod's Olde Irish Tavern in Sea Girt, New Jersey, is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner. Rod's offers a large menu filled with wholesome dishes at reasonable prices. Their service is good, even on weekends when the restaurant gets packed, and the bar is always a fine place to grab a drink. This is a restaurant review of Rod's Olde Irish Tavern in Sea Girt, New Jersey.

My fiance's favorite dish is the hot open roast beef sandwich with gravy and fries. The meat is piled high on top of white bread, all smothered in a delicious brown sauce. The fries are always cooked perfectly and are difficult to resist. My fiancé insists that "Rod's is one of the best casual places to dine at the Jersey Shore. The food is terrific, there's a wide selection, the service is excellent: fast and friendly. And the menu prices are affordable. Rod's is also a magnificent bar, where you can sit down and enjoy a few cocktails while watching the game. Not a bad place for a Sunday brunch either."

While I'm not a huge fan of roast beef, Rod's other sandwiches do tempt me. The chicken is very good, as are Rod's burgers. The portions are completely satisfying, and you have to exercise some self control in order to save room for dessert. And you will want to do just that. Their hot fudge brownie sundae is to die for. And it is large enough for two. Try that along with their Irish coffee and you will not be disappointed. Full, stuffed maybe, but not disappointed.

Plan on spending about ten dollars per person on simple entrees. Rod's also offers some wonderful specials, which are advertised on a blackboard that gets moved from table to table by the gracious servers. You might have a difficult time choosing just one entree.

Our parents were very pleased with Rod's Olde Irish Tavern as well. They agreed that it was a cheerful place where fancy wasn't necessary. The were delighted by the food and the fast, friendly service. My fiance's mother said, "I bring my clients here all the time, and they are always impressed with the place. Good sandwiches, fine service, and nice atmosphere. I've never had any complaints."

So if you live at or are visiting the Jersey Shore, be sure to pay a visit to Rod's Olde Irish Tavern in Sea Girt, New Jersey, for a fine casual meal.

The food at Rod's is average AT BEST. The thing that bothered me was how unclean the place was.

I agree - the service is terrible.

I went to this restaurant and the service was absolutely horrible. I ordered an entree, which comes with bread and a salad, and I also ordered soup. In 40 minutes I received nothing - not even the bread - NOTHING. What does it take to put togther a salad? Even when the bartender checked on my ordered NOTHING WAS SERVED. The people sitting next to me ordered well after me and were served food that requires cooking. THIS IS UNAACEPTABLE. Another peson at the bar also had bad service because he asked the bartender, "did they catch my fish yet?" There is ust no excse for service this lousy.
