Don't be fooled by its counter-service style method. Hot Box Pizza provides variety, value, and efficiency catered to your tastes. It also helps that they serve beer.
Of course, if building a pizza from crust to topping is too complexing for you, Hot Box's famous pies should just do the trick. Some pies are just like other "mixed pizzas" you would eat at other pizza restaurants, only with classy names. For example, the buffalo chicken pizza is known as "The Hot Chick" and the all meat pizza is "Porky the Pie".
Each Hot Box Pizza location through Indiana (and in Denton, TX) is unique. I'm a frequent diner at the Carmel location where contemporary chandeliers actually hang from the ceiling. Order a soda and you get a large plastic 22 oz cup that you can take home. I must admit, it is not the most environmentally friendly of practices but you can expect these cups to stock up in a college students' apartment. You can even try collecting different colored cups. There's no guarantee that the colored cups vary by location but it would still be a neat experiment to try.
There's also an online store devoted to the shirts that you'll see the staff wear (some of which cleverly just say "shirt").
Of course, who can forget about the food? Between the individual lunch specials and ordering a small pizza for two, the latter gets far more bang for your buck. A small pizza is actually big and filling enough to feed two people (three slices per person) and only costs around $5-$6 a person. Not a bad value.
There are also salads and breadsticks to enjoy. Hot Box Pizza also serves large 1-topping pizzas for catering.
If you're in central Indiana, Hot Box Pizza is available in Downtown Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, and in the Broad Ripple area. There's also one location in South Bend and another in West Lafayette.
For a simple pizza dining experience with the freedom to build your pizzas your way, Hot Box is a definite recommendation.
