Our Visit to the Cat Hotel
My daughter and I have had the pleasure of visiting The Enchanted Cat, spending time with the kitties, and working with Paula and Darlene. The first floor has the grooming area where a thorough grooming is done, with de-matting, nail clipping, eye and ear cleaning, and skin de-waxing (a process that greatly reduces problems like matts, hairballs, and lots of shedding) are done. The main boarding area is on the second floor, where my daughter and I spent time with the kitties. Though I had looked at The Enchanted Cat website before visiting, which said the boarding cages were large, I was still amazed by the sizes. They were so big, I'd have to call them kitty suites. Each suite has a TV that plays nature videos that the cats enjoy, comfy beds, litter box, food and water, toys, and plenty of space. There is also an open area outside the suites for the kitties to come out and play with toys, cat trees, and more. My daughter really enjoyed spending time playing with a cat named Boo while we were there. We also met several beautiful cats that are available for adoption from The Enchanted Cat.
A Life of Animal Care and Rescue
Paula and Darlene are very personable and in the time we spent with them I could tell that taking care of cats was much more than a job to them, it was a way of life. Not only have they been working together at The Enchanted Cat since 2003, but they also take care of most of the strays in the surrounding area by putting out cat food at about thirty-five local gas stations. Paula also takes care of twelve elderly and/or sick cats living in her home with illnesses ranging from diabetes, thyroid problems, cancer, and more. Before opening The Enchanted Cat, Paula spent several years in California taking care of and rescuing animals and has had the pleasure of working with many celebrities, whose personally autographed pictures you can see hanging on the wall of The Enchanted Cat. One of Paula's middle-of-the-night calls was from Nancy and Ronald Reagan asking her to come to their home to help their cat birth her kittens. Paula also spent time in Tapei, rescuing animals out of the country to give them a second chance at life with loving owners in the United States. With so much involvement in the care and rescue of animals, it comes as no surprise that Paula has also been on Animal Planet several times.
Personal, Loving Care for Your Cat
Without a doubt, Paula and Darlene, will provide your cat with personal, loving care whether it's only for a couple of hours of grooming or an overnight or extended stay.
