Cat in East Boston Called for Jury Duty (Video Link)

Despite the fact that Sal Esposito is a cat he has been called to Jury duty and is to serve the good citizens of Boston's Suffolk Superior Court with his participation.

Sal's owners, Anna and Guy Esposito, claimed that he could not serve because he was unable to speak English. Despite that, however, his disqualification of service has been denied and Sal is due to report for jury duty on March 23.

Just how did Sal find himself in this cat-astrophy? Surely, there's a purr-fect explanation.

Anna Esposito decided to list Sal on the U.S. Census form she received last year. Although she did list him under "Pet" , scratching through the word 'dog' and writing 'cat', his name was still picked up by local government officials when putting together potential furry, uh, that is jury pools.

A friend of mine had his dog called to jury duty. Come to find out he claimed his dog on his taxes for 8 years until the IRS started clamping down on soc sec numbers. Coincidence?
