Cataclysm Brings New Classes to World of Warcraft

ZS
Here is a complete list of previously unseen class/race possibilities that are planned to become available with the release of Cataclysm, Blizzard's next expansion pack to World of Warcraft:

Human hunters
It seems logical that the humans of Stormwind, after so much fraternization with more nature-attuned races, such as the Night Elves, would pick up some of their skills. The creation of human hunters seems almost inevitable.

Night elf mages
This combination is a little harder to fathom. For centuries, abhorrence of arcane magic has been one of the cornerstone characteristics of kaldorei society. Are these night elven mages a splinter group, or has night elf culture as a whole come to accept arcane magic as a necessary evil? And does it have anything to do with the impending reappearance of Archdruid Malfurion Stormrage?

Dwarf mages
This is a bit easier to understand. Dwarves have never had much of an affinity for arcane magic, but they seem reasonably comfortable with elemental magic. Perhaps they've learned a thing or two from cohabitating with the Gnomeregan Exiles.

Dwarf shamans
Dwarves have always had a connection with nature-- it seems reasonable that the order of the druids would eventually consider including them as a race.

Gnome priests
There's never been any strong reason given why the gnomes would not be able to commune with the Holy Light closely enough in order to become priests. And, just maybe, Blizzard wanted to make it a little easier for Alliance players to find healers.

Worgen death knights
The worgen, who are intrinsically quasi-feral and capable of viciousness, seem like potentially easy converts to the Lich King's cause. If a night elf can become a death knight, so can a worgen.

Worgen druids
Worgen already experience a deep connection with nature and are capable of shape-shifting. The addition of worgen druids is almost a no-brainer.

Worgen hunters
All it takes is the ability to experience a connection to nature and a bit of physical strength to become a hunter. Worgen would make natural hunters.

Worgen mages
Becoming mages seems a little less obvious for the worgen than becoming hunters or druids, but they are half-human, and their history in regards to magic remains to be seen.

Worgen priests
The same goes here. Do worgen worship the holy light like their fully human counterparts? How does their connection to nature mesh with Light-worship?

Worgen warlocks
The worgen don't seem too "civilized" (like, for example, the night elves) to utilize fel magic. We've already seen that, as in the case of Arugal's wolf cult, worgen can coexist with fel beings without any sort of inherent incompatilibity

Worgen warriors
With the exception of the blood elves, every race has had the path of the warrior open to them from their inception. Worgen seem to be natural fighters-- no surprise here.

Orc mages
This one is quasi-surprising-- I suppose the orcs' picking up a few arcane secrets from their allies was inevitable, but being a mage just doesn't seem extremely orcy. Oh well.

Tauren paladins
This seems like a natural choice. Though tauren tend to have a stronger affinity for nature than the Light, they value many of the same things as Light-devoted humans do.

Tauren priests
The same goes for tauren priests as does for tauren paladins. It seems like a pursuit the tauren would have passion for and now, thanks to the blood elves, access to the Light has been opened to them.

Troll druids
This one isn't much of a shock, either. It doesn't take much more affinity for nature to become a druid than it does to become a shaman, and trolls have been one of the most profilic races as shamans.

Forsaken hunters
But here's a real surprise-- the undead, who are themselves abominations against nature, becoming hunters? Perhaps becoming a hunter isn't so much about having a connection to nature as having survival skills, and the Forsaken certainly possess those.

Blood elf warriors
The blood elves were originally disallowed from being warriors on the grounds of their being too physically frail. (What? A gnome is really tougher than an elf?) I suspect this change was made for gameplay reasons-- blood elves being the most popular Horde race, the creation of blood elven warriors would add many new tanks available for Horde players to group with.

Goblin death knights
Is there any race more corruptible than the goblins? This is an of-course choice. The only question is, which is less intimidating: a goblin death knight, or a gnomish one?

Goblin hunters
This plays into the idea that being able to become a hunter isn't so much about affinity for nature as ability to cope with it-- goblins, after all, have done more to decimate Azeroth's natural landscape than any other race. Nobody would accuse the goblins of not being able to master nature, however...

Goblin mages
Why not? Goblins are clever and quick to pick up new skills. Arcane magic is more about technical expertise than any kind of spiritual attunement.

Goblin priests
This seems a bit less obvious than creating goblin mages, but it's still plausible. Becoming shadow priests seems a particularly natural choice for your average goblin adventurer.

Goblin rogues
Was there ever a race so obviously fitted for producing rogues? I predict that, after Cataclysm's release, goblin rogues will become one of the class/race combinations most widely reviled by Alliance on PvP realms.

Goblin shamans
This one's a bit like the goblin priests-- not an obvious choice, but not implausible either. It's hard to imagine goblins who care more about nature than gathering wealth forming the spine of goblin society, however.

Goblin warlocks
This is more like it. Goblins always look for the easiest route to a solution for a problem, and don't mind getting their hands dirty. Goblin warlocks have been employed by all sorts of demonic cults, such as Twilight's Hammer.

Goblin warriors
This seems a totally natural choice. Everyone else is capable of becoming a warrior, so why not goblins? Goblins, despite their size, are strong and scrappy.
