There are ways to check up on what your spouse is doing on line. If you are concerned about this being an invasion of their privacy think of it this way. Wouldn't you want to know if your spouse is indeed cheating on you? Yes you could always ask them if they are cheating, but nine times out of ten they are not going to admit to it. Finding out if your spouse is cheating on you by monitoring their Internet activity can allow you to plan ahead. If you find out your spouse is cheating on you, you'll have time to figure out what plan of action you want to take.
To catch your spouse cheating through use of the computer you have several options. One option to catch a cheating spouse is by looking through their Internet history. This does not always work. If your spouse is computer savvy at all they will know to erase their Internet history. If they do not know too much about the computer they may leave a trail behind. To check the Internet history and see if your spouse is cheating open up the Internet browser. This is usually Internet Explorer or Firefox. We will look at Internet Explorer first. Once the browser opens go to Tools and select Internet options. This will bring up a box. You will then select Settings under the Browsing history section. This will open another box. You will select View files. Once again another box will open.
In this box you will be able to browse through all of the web pages your spouse has visited in the past week or two. You can click on the web page to view exactly what it is. If your spouse is cheating you may find a lot of visits to a site like MySpace, or another social networking web site. You may find visits to an email account at a free site like Yahoo or Gmail. If you see visits to an email account you were not aware of them having this is a good sign they could be cheating.
In Firefox you can click History along the top of the page and all of the recent pages viewed will be listed there. To see more of them click to show history in sidebar. You can then view the Internet history for a longer time period. Internet history is one of the easiest ways to see if your spouse is cheating on line.
As I mentioned earlier this method of catching a cheating spouse does not always work. If your spouse knows enough about computers they know to delete their history after they use the computer. If you check the history and it is constantly empty this could be another sign of them cheating. If you know they have been on the computer and there is no history they deleted it for a reason. If the reason isn't to hide an affair it may be for something else they should not be doing.
I have included images to show you where to find the browsing history. If this method does not help you to see if your spouse is cheating there are programs that will monitor all activity on the computer for you. I will be writing an article about these types of programs so check back soon. To see more articles by this author click on my picture at the top of the article.

Post a CommentGood tips, Heather! ...and good point, Deborah!
I have two friends who found out their husbands are now gay by stuff they ran across on the computer. Nasty divorces underway now.
Good information.
It's sad to find yourself in the situation where you feel you need to check, but it's good to know how to do it.
Great job! I'm glad I don't have to worry about this though. My husband barely knows how to turn the computer on.
Checking the history does cover the basics.
Good info Heather, for those in that situation and who need some pointers on how to go about it.
I have to agree with Carol. Trust must also be present in a marriage for it to survive. But this is still valuable information to be aware of if you suspect your spouse is cheating.
