Catching a Ghost on Camera

Whether you can capture the image of a ghost on camera is a highly debatable phenomenon that people have been striving to prove for years. Although most images can be explained as a trick of light or shadow, there are some pictures out there that any explanation would justify. I had not been lucky enough to capture an image that I believe could be proof of existence after the beyond until my recent trip to the haunted Putnam Hotel. I had been trying for years to record my own evidence of what is called an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) and I had even grew up in a haunted house and lived there most of my life, but still I had the desire to capture a ghostly image on film or tape recorder.

When you go into a room and feel a cold spot, or a touch on your shoulder, face, hair or any part of your body when no one else is present, and even the more rare materialization forms where they take form whether it be mist, a shadow, a white cloudy image of a person that looks like a silent movie playing out right in front of your eyes or even poltergeist activity where the only materialization you see is objects being moved, thrown, or otherwise acted upon by no apparent source.

This is the perfect time to start clicking away at your camera and recording the event with a tape recorder turned as high as it will go could also bring astounding results when played at an even higher level once the event is concluded. Snap a series of pictures until you "feel" like the presence has gone away, but make sure to capture as many images in a row as you can. Try going to the exact location where previous accounts have been made of paranormal activity and hopefully there will be enough residual energy there to play itself for you if you are receptive enough. You must be open-minded and receptive to seeing things that you do not know for sure exist (ie: you must have faith) or you will be ignored for another nearby with a more open mind. After all, who would want to go into a room full of people who weren't interested in them? Spirits are ten times more likely to make their presence known to someone who will appreciate them or pay them the attention hey crave and believe they deserve for their own personal reasons. Your energy mixed with their residual energy acts like jumper cables for a car and more or less ignites a reaction from both energy sources.

Sometimes images have to be blown up quite large in order to see what is hidden within them. Try zooming in and examining the different light sources; where is the light coming from, being reflected from or is the shadow cast from an object in the room, a play of light, explainable camera malfunction, or another outside source such as a plane flying by casting and a shadow for a brief second?

At some point any image or recording you are lucky enough to capture will fall into the critiquing jaws of the scientific community. There can be more out there than what we can see but none of these wonders can be seen if you are too busy trying to prove that they do not exist, instead open your mind and you will be surprised at what jumps out at you - sometimes literally.
