Catherine Bach's Husband Commits Suicide on Front Lawn: Dukes of Hazzard Star Asks for Prayers

Peter Lopez, husband of "The Dukes of Hazzard" star Catherine Bach, was found dead from a gunshot wound on the front lawn of his home in Encino, Ca. The coroner's office is calling it an apparent suicide.

Lopez was an attorney, who numbered among his clients the late pop icon, Michael Jackson. He also represented members of the rock group, The Eagles. Peter Lopez was also a producer on the film "Selena," in which Jennifer Lopez played the popular Tejano star killed by her fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar.

Peter Lopez was a partner in the law firm of Klienberg Lopez Lange Cuddy & Klein, LLC. His dealings with Michael Jackson reportedly ended several years before the singer passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2009.

His law firm released a statement, saying: "We are deeply shocked and saddened by the unexpected loss of our friend and partner, Peter Lopez. This is an incalculable tragedy for his family, friends, clients and ourselves. We request that all concerned respect the privacy of Peter's family during this terribly difficult period. Our heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the Lopez family."

Peter Lopez married Catherine "Daisy Duke" Bach on August 8, 1990. Ms. Bach's role in "The Dukes of Hazzard" gave rise to a trend of calling cut-off shorts "Daisy Dukes," since she always wore them on the sitcom, which also starred John Schneider and Tom Wopat as her cousins, Bo and Luke Duke.

The 56-year-old Catherine Bach and 60-year-old Peter Lopez had two children during their 19-year marriage: 14-year-old Sophia and 13-year-old, Laura.

Bach's publicist, Steve Rohr, spoke for the Lopez family, saying the family has suffered a "tragic personal loss." He also said: "Catherine and the girls would appreciate your prayers."
