Catholic Christmas Eve Midnight Mass in East Tennessee

Kathleen McCann
Have nowhere to go this Christmas Eve? Then why not spend it at church celebrating the birth of Jesus with your Catholic friends? You will enjoy the sacred music, Christmas decorations, candles and scripture readings. A partial list of churches in the East Tennessee area is provided below. If you need more information please visit http://www.dioceseofknoxville.org. You will be amazed at just how many counties in East Tennessee have midnight mass services.

Hamblen County

St Patrick Church 2581 West Andrew Johnson Highway, Morristown TN 423 586 9174

Jefferson County

Holy Trinity Church475 N Highway 92, Jefferson City TN 865 471 0347

Knox County

All Saints Church 620 N. Cedar Bluff Road, Knoxville TN 865 531 0770

You need to be aware of a few things:

Midnight mass does not always start at midnight, call ahead to find out when the service starts and when it ends. It is a Catholic belief that Jesus was born at midnight ushering in Christmas morning.

Remember this is a church service dress appropriately, no jeans or casual wear.

Communion is given, please do not partake in this sacrament if you are not entitled. You might speak to the priest prior to the event. Do not leave while communion is being given, that is considered rude.
