It's been proven that human beings are made of stardust. Like the bright lights we see in the sky, we are stars. The Sun is a star, and thus, we too are suns. What does it mean to be your own sun? I liken it to being a candle in the dark, waiting to be lit by a stranger or a long lost love. What we never seem to realize, however, is that the flame is already there. We and we alone can make it stronger or put it out.

When one finds their own sun, it's an indescribable feeling. It's not an event one can pinpoint in time, or a constant feeling of bliss and elation. Rather, just as one grows physically, one's sun gets brighter and brighter spiritually.

In the news and virtually every media outlet, we are constantly reminded of the changing environment. Earth is our home, and we clearly haven't taken good care of it. But just as the world would drastically fall apart if the Sun dropped out of the sky, maybe the world is falling apart now because our own suns, our own inner light, is refusing to shine. Maybe if we started handling each other with care, the earth would follow suit in some cosmic yet righteous fashion.

We all make vibrations; just because we can't see something doesn't mean it's not there. Sure, scientists will preach about climate change, preachers will claim it's a sign of apocalypse, and some will say it's all a sham concocted by the weatherman, and maybe so. But perhaps when the sun inside of us begins to shine, and comes across an equal or stronger opposing force (society), things are literally shook up; natural disasters occur.

If Earth and all the planets revolve around the Sun, imagine the pattern our own sun would make on a smaller scale; spiraling around and around like a never-ending lighthouse beam, looking to connect with another light of similar intensity. Instead of accidences, coincidences, and sheer bad luck, maybe things would literally start to fall into place for us as individuals, just as all the planets and stars seem to have their own place, coming in and dropping out of orbit. As more suns are lit, more connections are made and, similar to a cell phone network, the result would resemble a ripple effect- a network of the heart.

I firmly disbelieve that pain is an inevitable part of life, and I don't think humans were created to suffer. I also am disillusioned by the 'peace and love' movement I once firmly believed in, as I don't think the answer is giving away freely or taking freely. What I think is that fate and destiny are words with chains around them, yet if we all have a destiny, meaning that we all have a purpose, it shouldn't take years or lifetimes to discover this purpose. On their deathbeds, some think 'What If?' What if I chose a different career, or moved to a different city, or didn't marry this person? Everyone knows that one little decision can effect millions down the line, meaning one moment can affect your entire life, and each and every moment that follows. But what if, instead of taking said job, the universe literally gave you a second option? What if, instead of falling for said person, the universe steered you away somehow? Things like this happen everyday; signs are all around us. But only few see these signs, and only a rarer few make or change a decision based on this gut intuition.

What I'm proposing is, what if, when our inner flame is lit, these signs are easier to see? What if there were no more 'what ifs'? Must every little decision we make be a meaningless gamble?

Until we discover what it means to be our own sun, we have no right to take from the earth. Only when we start treating each other better will the earth's produce be rightfully ours.

Unfortunately, by the time this occurs on a large enough scale, we may already be looking for a new home on another planet, where we will continue to conquer, alienate and destroy- both the planet and each other.
