Cats Make Great Companions

Cats Are Fun Companions

Cats have their own agenda, they love having good food, fresh water and a clean litter box. Cats owners may be confused at times concerning their cats behavior. Cats can be aloof one moment and nearly wild the next minute. They love to play by pushing their head into almost any object that they can find. They love boxes and paper bags and fuzzy toys.

Cats rub against items and people to leave their scent declaring that item or person as belonging in their territory. This habit of cats will be noticed more when you have other people who own animals or those with allergies over at your house. Generally if the cat is allowed to rub against ones pant leg it may be all takes for a cat to leave the person alone.

Cats love to lie on the window sills and observe outside activities. During this time, your cat may make strange noises caused by the hunting instinct that is natural for cats. It could be another cat outside or some other moving object that causes the cat to go into its native hunting instinct.

Cats love to play pouncing on things and chasing moving objects small objects tied to a string. A small cloth bag with a bit of catnip inside and tied with a string will give hours of enjoyment for the cat and you as the observer.

You will need a scratching post for your cat unless you can afford to purchase new furniture and drapes. They love to scratch and can be encouraged to use the scratching post easily. When providing a scratching post you can rub catnip on the post and then wiggle a piece of string around the post getting them in the habit of playing there and soon that is where they will go to sharpen their claws all the time.

A cat makes a wonderful companion, they will enjoy curling up with you on the couch or in your easy-chair. Cats are quiet little creatures which makes them a good pet for apartment dwellers.

Cats can be just fine outside with a few precautions. They will need fresh water, shelter from the elements and a safe place to get away from the neighborhood dogs. A fenced area or a raised deck will allow your outdoor cat a safe place to lie in the sun.
